Replacing an extra fast action spinning rod. Recommendations?-Happy Update!

I had a Fenwick as well Don’t recall the model but it was a pretty decent rod. I had a, I think loomiglass, that I really liked. But I snapped it setting the hook on a pontoon. Had it for a long time. That one pissed me off

Before my buddy started building custom walleye rods built off Bushido and Rainshadow Immortal blanks, I used a variety of Okuma Dead Eye spinning rods. the Dead Eye Custom DCS-S-681MXF would fit your parameters and can be found for $100 if you shop around. Otherwise take a look at some of the higher end scheels rods as well.

Ebisu Pro Spinning rod from Scheels is great and durable $125 at the moment on a discount, Elliot rods are the new leader regarding sensitivity but they will shatter if not cared for & are very pricey.

Have been using St. Croix and broke the tip on my favorite Eyecon 63MLXF and of course they don't make an exact replacement as the handle is a bit longer but close enough. I was very impressed with a Daiwa Tatula spinning reel I bought so decided to try their Tatula spinning rod. This has turned out to be a very light, sensitive outfit with plenty of backbone. The Tatula rods are close to the price of the Eyecons which is in the $150 range.

I have really enjoyed my Trika rods since they came out. They have some noteworthy engineering in their rods that definitely increases sensitivity & casting distance. I’m slowly replacing all of my “old” technology rods with Trikas. They are pretty expensive… but walleye fishing is a pretty expensive habit.

St croix has been on a downswing for while. I no longer use their products.
For an extra fast rod, Daiwa is my go to now. The RG is a walleye rod. Best $100 rod out there. I use them for finesses jigs, neds, tubes, blade baiting, and trout.

Limit Creek is worth a look. I bought one for a trip to MN in October performed very well.

You might want to look at these I dont own one I just bought a trika on sale for $200 before I heard about them Talon xmb carbon , regular price is $300 they are on sale right now for $100

Check out Dobyns fishing rods. They have a strong following in the south among bass fishermen. They are good quality rods for the money. I have a couple of their Sierra Series Spinning rods that are very good rods. These run about $180.00, but they make less expensive models also.

Well here is a happy update. Keep in mind I've had this road for probably greater than 15 years. St. Croix is sending me a replacement rod-same specs and model but newer composition-and I am paying $125.00 in total for the replacement that retails for $225.00. No tax, no shipping and a new 15 year warranty.

I talked to a human and he actually knew a thing or two about fishing. Couldn't been more helpful.

Thank you to those of you that directed me to file a claim. I wouldn't have been disappointed if they offered me something less substantial like 10% off or free shipping. Their response exceeded my expectations.

I’ve had similar experiences with st croix, they are the only brand of spinning rods I’ll buy due to the positive interactions I’ve had with them.

Scott fly rods is another company that has impressed me with their warranty service.
