I have a Stocky's VG for a Tikka and it is in the Viper Urban finish (hydro-dip?). I am not crazy about it and would like to refinish it. Is there a way to strip the Viper finish and get it back to bare carbon? If not, can I paint over the Viper finish?

I don't know anything about the finish, but I'd try acetone, MEK, perhaps mineral spirits. Not sure how solvent resistant that finish is. Might be worth giving them a call to ask their opinion on how to approach it.

Aircraft remover would probably do it too but I’d be worried about potentially damaging the CF underneath.

I second the notion to scuff sand and paint over it.

Appreciate the responses. I emailed Stocky's and they said the same as you guys: sand it and paint it. What paint would you recommend?

I had one in the strata camo. I scuffed it up with sand paper and just painted over it. It has held up well and been used a lot.

That turned out great. What paint did you use?
Thank you! I’ll have to look and see what I used I on this stock. I’ve painted quite a few and have you both Krylon and Rustoleum with great results. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.
