Removing improperly seated primers

I had a few oopsies this month while seating primers. I've got one that was flipped upside down, one that somehow got sideways, and one that's half seated on a slight angle. I'm wondering if I can finish seating the primer that's half out. Not sure what to do about the others. Any advice?

I would try to seat the half in one and push the other two out slowly with a decapping die and check them for damage before re-seating.

Is that loaded ammo? There was a recent post here from another member who tried to re-seat an improperly seated primer on a loaded round and it blew up in his face, causing injury. Don’t do it.

Pull the bullets, dump the powder, and start over. That is the only answer.

These are just casings, no bullet or powder in them

Use a hand primer on the one that is proud, decap the other 2 carefully

I would decap them all carefully and toss those primers. If you're worried about them blowing up soak them in water for a bit before you do it.

So I ran them slowly through my universal decapping die and they came right out. Thanks all!

I always soak them in water for an hour and then de-prime them. So far I have all my fingers, eye sight and hearing.

FWIW I've actually tested primers that I safely pressed out against my baseline load and it didn't make a measurable difference.

The water won’t make any difference, they are coated with varnish
