Novice reloader here, so go easy as this might be a stupid question.

I FL sized about 100 pieces of 270 brass last night, will probably prime them tonight, but to the point. When do you guys remove your case lube? Do you leave it on the cases until fully loaded or do you remove it immediately after sizing?

One more: What's the hive's opinion on FL sizing new brass; yea or nay? The brass in question is Lapua.

Ditto the above, except I FL resize everything. 6.5guys have some good content on lube and removal on YouTube.

I use OneShot and I don't make a concerted effort to remove it. But I use the RCBS Case Prep center and end up cleaning the primer pocket and using a brush inside the case mouth. During case prep I'll hold the case with a little red shop towel and it ends up cleaning them 80% or so. After loading a bullet I might wipe them down fully.

I have tumbled after sizing but I don't like the corn media getting in the flash holes.

With OneShot I don't think cleaning it off matters performance wise. I do like pretty brass sometimes tho.

Wipe them down with a micro fiber cloth right after they come out of the resize die.
New brass I run them into a mandrel die or the expander ball in a resize die, just to make the case mouth round. Also hit it with a chamfer tool. If the new brass doesn't chamber easily, I bump the shoulder back, till it does.

Re new Lapua. I expand with a mandrel, using imperial wax.

I tumble off the wax, this also takes away the grittiness of the annealed necks.

Then zip it through the giraud before priming.

Do not size virgin Lapua
I think I'm going to adopt this, really no need to FL size quality brass.

I use Imperial wax. I use my fl die to just uniform the case mouth openings on new Lapua or any brand brass. I use to tumble after sizing, but found it to be a waste of time.

With good brass (Lapua, Peterson, Alpha, ADG) just chamfer, run the expander mandrel and then primer powder bullet! No need to size quality virgin Brass.

For removing lube I throw it in the tumbler after resizing. Depending on how many cases I am doing will depend on how long I tumble it for. Most of the time I will just throw it in over night but if I was just removing lube, 30 minutes would probably work.

Wipe sizing wax off with paper towel right out of the press. Wipe a second time after loaded. Never had an issue but might try a little alcohol for the 2nd wipe.

Lapua brass I will just run an expander mandrel and then chamfer/debur. I tumble sized brass right after to remove the lube.

I full length size mine just to make sure it will chamber properly. Lapua may be good brass but if fedex handled that box anything could have happened. After sizing I usually just lay it all out in a towel, spray with some 90% alcohol quick and then roll it around in the towel.

Paper towel or microfiber cloth to wipe after resizing.
I’m done with the dry media tumblers, and my garage is cleaner for it.
