Recently obtained a stock, stainless Model Seven .243. Looking to see other peoples Model Sevens with modifications for ideas, and to hear what you recommend or do not recommend as far as upgrades.

I am debating on cutting it down to 16.5" and threading vs leaving standard length.

Also any .243 successful load data for 95 NBT's is also welcomed.

Mine is an 18” that my great uncle gave me. I believe it’s an early 90s model. I usually have a leupold 3-9 on it and no bipod, but I was doing some load dev and wanted more scope. The Magnus S is a bit much for it, but it is very quiet and pleasant to shoot. 45.2 grains of H4831sc at 2.7” COAL is giving my 2910 fps. Much better than the factory 100 grain powershoks at 2650. However, that factory load was still quite deadly on deer

Just recently traded for this 300 saum Model 7. It was bone stock when I received it with a stainless barrel and synthetic B&C stock. Ordered a green and black-webbed HS Precision stock and gave it a DIY paint job with flat back Rustoleum High-Heat. Swapped the trigger for a Timney and topped it with a Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-12.5x42. Shot it for the first time today. It’s no laser beam, but shoots 165 Nosler Partitions into MOA groups and will be plenty serviceable for the roles I have planned for it. Recoil was not nearly as bad as I expected. IMG_1317.jpeg

I’ve had a few, all 308’s and one 7 SAUM. My first and favorite was an 18.5” Walnut stocked .308. It had a fixed 6 x 42 Leupold and I killed a metric shit ton of deer and hogs with it. Great little woods gun / tree stand rifle. I put a Timney trigger in it and had it bedded.

Currently have 3 customized M7's. All actions trued and barreled by the same smith. Cerakote, etc were from different folks. All have Trigger Tech triggers.

Stainless action, stainless Douglas #2 at 22", chambered in .308 Win, Badger Ord M5 bottom metal, cerakoted matte black, full length bedded in an McMillan Edge stock.

Stainless action, stainless Douglas #3 at 21", chambered in .358 Win, Badger Ord M5 bottom metal, cerakoted sniper grey, action bedded in an McMillan Mt Rifle edge fill stock.

Blued action, stainless Douglas Mt Rifle contour at 21", chambered in .223AI, MDT LSS chassis.

They've killed a lot of stuff but it's been several years since I've had them out. I need to let them move on to someone who'll use them.

I love the Remington Model Seven rifles. Never had a Model 7 or a M7, cause Remington never made those. They made it a point to spell out the Seven.

I have a 7 SAUM(22” barrel), a couple 7-08s(20” barrel and 18.5”), and a 308(20” barrel). I killed my elk last season with my 7-08. All of them have their factory barrels and are very accurate.

They’re great little rifles.

Not exactly custom… manners EH8, triggertech, PTG bottom metal. Just a plain 6mm Remington that runs 100 grain sierras at 3100 from the 20” barrel, usually around 3/4”. It’s taken a lot of game over the years, handy out to 300 and weighs 5.8lbs all in.

I have 3 of the Seven's and I think they are my favorite platform. My first was a 7mm-08 stainless that has taken a few deer. Then I picked up a 22-250 from the classifieds here. That gun started as a 260rem and was converted to the 22-250. It came with the 260rem barrel so I picked up an action from PTG and built the rifle with a timney trigger/B&C stock and the SWFA Ultralight 2.5-10x32. The 260 shoots 140gr accubonds around 2665fps and sub moa. Took my last few deer with that.
