Remington Alpha 1 bolt rifles - what's happening?

Topic: Remington Alpha 1 bolt action rifle availability

Supposing like most who are familiar with the topic, I came across a bunch of Alpha 1 press published in Q4 of 2022. Also noticed that a lot of go-to gun purchase sites had complete product landing pages built out with SKU numbers, pricing, full products specs, order buttons, etc. This sort of thing suggests that Remington or a rep agency had made a product launch commitment to the supply chain. Keep in mind that people were given rifles for posting articles and photos in prep for market distribution.

Several months later it appears that nothing has changed. Just a bunch of sites with landing pages, no ability to order, and Google search queries that don't show anyone claiming to own one.

Curious to know if anyone has anything new to share? Anyone with connections on the distribution or retail side?

Anyone with supply chain insight should be able to see where Remington is at with distribution. Maybe they scratched it?

I saw one pop up on gunbroker in 6.5 cm. It was from a top 100 seller too so not a scam. All the usual suspects online don't have them in stock from what I've seen. Maybe they're getting close??

I also saw the 6.5 cm on Midwest gunworks website. Somebody needs to get one and do a review haha. Hoping a 7 mag pops up soon.

Just looked at Gunbroker and found at least 20 for sale. Gonna check with my local FFL guy to see what's showing up. Prices showing are either side of $1,700.

They promised it will be. So far, I haven't seem the same promise from Weatherby on its new 307 action.

Saw a thing on Ron Spalmer. Typical gun writer stuff where they invite gun dudes to an upscale shooting ranch, put a hand picked 6.5 something-or-other on the table for them to try out, wine and dine the writers and send them out in the world to gush. I guess the 6.5 shot fairly well but no surprise there. IMO, you gotta get a cross section of 50 in various calibers, purchased off the shelf in every corner of America by Average Joe's, to even begin to have an opinion. Actually, it sounds like Rem Arms is making an effort, although the MSRP screams "custom" while the specs imply a decent pile of parts in a somewhat meaty package. They must have some amazing Quality Control to justify the asking price, but hey, the proof is in the pudding. Spalmer did mention that it's a 2 position safety that doesn't lock in the safe position (ala Ruger American). For me, that's a deal breaker. I've left a round or two in the thicks due to the bolt flopping open while I was brushwacking and wasn't even aware of it for a while, soooooo. Sounds to me like a guy plinking at the range or hunting from a stand or off his porch might like this rifle. That's actually most rifle buyers anyway. I'd like something a little more purpose built.

The vast majority of rifles are like that at this point, pretty much any custom on a 700 pattern action is with the exception of the defiance with a 3 position safety but those aren’t made anymore. There are exceptions like the Model 70, X-Bolt and Sako but they are the minority which is a shame as I like the bolt locking feature on my Model 70s.

Yup... I was mildly interested in the Sako 90 coming out. I suppose it'll come with a premium price tag but considering Rem Arms Alpha 1 MSRP, it might be worth squirreling away a few more shackles and getting what is probably a really nice rifle. The longer mag box on the Rem does sound intriguing though. Maybe not 2 G's intriguing.

Will be interesting if remmington can right the ship… saw Ron spomer review it. Rem imo has been trash for a while they really need to win customer’s trust back. Kind of hard price point to break back into the game with a bunch of other rifle makers who filled the gap Rem left and lots doing it for 800-1200 bucks vs 1700

I may grab an Alpha 1 in 300 win mag or 7 mag..... and if she doesn't shoot.......just rebarrel her in 7mm PRC. That Alpha 1 comes with my favorite stock (AG Composites Sportsman / Carbon All Terrain), a nice trigger and what looks like a nice action with a fluted bolt. If she doesn't shoot the 300 Winnie very well.....it'll make a great 7mm PRC after the re-barrel.

I'm going to bet my hand that Remington under its new leadership is righting the ship.

i have 7oo adl remarms/ser# according to cust serv all 700s will have this rem arms pre ser# after diff trigger float barrel grind off lug act screw rifle shot 1/2in gr with 105,107,108. I have got the alpha 1 have not had time to zero its not near as cool as I was expecting for 1700$

well i have been trying to set up my 700 alpha the bolt is really rough & grinding bolt lug one side very rough other not making much contact, it shot 3shot gr 1in, bolt very hard to open factory loads tried to load mag 1rd in rest keeping popping out, needless to say I will be sending it back in my opinion its way over priced if I had seen one before I bought I would not have purchased, same old rem diff owner

i just shipped rifle back 1/04/24, they don't offer written warranty full or limited they decide if they cover repair or owner pays. i will post again when I know whats going on
