Rem700 270 Win. The Journey Begins.

I’ve had a Remington 700 in 270 Win for a couple years. I love the gun and feel like it’s a tack-driver.

It’s a cheap model, but it’s been a good gun.

I was on the fence whether to mod it or get a 6.5 creedmoor. Ultimately I’ve decided to stick with the 270. Partially since this year is its centennial, partly because I can upgrade it slowly in steps rather than dropping money on a gun all at once.

I want to compete in the NRL Hunter, really the skills division, maybe the lightweight if I ever get good enough.
The first step for me was new glass.

I had a leupold VX-Freedom 3-9. Which I adore. Leupold stands as my favorite optics I’ve owned, although that’s the only Leupold I’ve owned so far.
I did just find a killer deal on an Athlon Cronus BTR Gen II 4.5-29.
The eye box seems less forgiving, but I’m excited to get to use it. Seems like great glass!

I feel like it’s mounted really far back, but it seems like that’s where the scope was the clearest. I may need to adjust…

This will serve as a journal of sorts to the updates I’ll be making to the good old 270.

I'd be shoving that scope forwards a bunch. Will letcha spread those rings out a bit more as well.

Kind of what I thought. I’m gonna have to mess with it a little bit to see cause this is what felt right but it doesn’t look right.
