I had this same issue a while back when reloading a round that would shoot soft for my wife. Not that she is recoil sensitive but it was her first rifle and I didn’t want recoil to discourage her at all. I ended up with 130 gr SST’s over 53 grains of IMR 4350. Shot pretty soft out of her Tikka which is a pretty light rifle.

Out of a 6.8mm SPC, my daughter and I have used the 110 gr Sierra Pro Hunters at about 2450 fps and 95 gr Barnes TTSXs at about 2650 fps on whitetails and a black bear. They work great. Also, I have had good luck with reduced loads in other cartridges using H4895. I suspect you could come up with a load that would work well for your daughter using either of those bullets and H4895.
Thanks for the ballpark on velocity with the two bullets mentioned. The biggest challenge has been getting ahold of H4895. Finally found some on Gunbroker, as all the usual outlets (including my local gun/reloading retailer) are 86'd on the stuff. Guy at the shop said reloading supplies have been dwindling since the onset of the pandemic. Appreciate all the help!

Not a reduced load per se but the most accurate one hole 5 shot group i have w we show was with 43g of H4895 and 140g Nosler Ballistic Tips.
Hi Steve,
My Brother and his Brother in law live in Fenton MI, and speak highly of you and yours.
I'm anxious to experiment with H4895. You had a most excellent '19 season!
Here's to a better end to '20.

I wouldn't be afraid to try some Reloder 15 or IMR 4064 with bullets up to 130 if you strike out on H4895.
IMR 4064 has been good to me when trying to find a decent low/mid power load. If one powder takes 3 grains more, well that's about 1 lb-ft of recoil. The recoil with a mild 110 bullet load at 3150 fps is going to be 13 to 13.6 lb-ft with a 8 lb gun with 3 grains of powder difference. With 130 bullet at 2800 fps, 13.5 to 14.5 lb-ft with 3 grain powder difference. Not much change in overall recoil. Just food for thought. Were only playing with 1.5 lb-ft of recoil change with 110 vs 130 grain bullets. I fretted over this when putting a rifle together for my
daughter...lol. Good luck with your project.

I do have Reloader 15 on hand. Never thought about going in that direction as an option. All about balancing velocity and bullet weight. Many thanks.
