I shoot traditional flintlocks using a hickory ramrod. The key to not breaking one is to learn to limit the stroke length. About 1 ft above the bore is as high as you want to grab the rod when driving a bullet down.
I've bent a few and ended up getting this aluminum one with a T handle built ion as a range rod - "buddy" has it. I then got a FG-ish one that is a bit flexible but will seat the bullet just fine.
If you have to push very hard, maybe try a diff bullet size?
Montana xtreme or track of the wolf for range rod. Montana xtreme rod free spins with rifling. Track of the wolf doesn’t but is beefier. Delrin rod from track of the wolf for field use.
