Recommend me some shoes/boots for Italian walking honeymoon

So I bought a pair of Brooks for everyday if things are dry but id still like to have a pair of boots just incase it rains as seems the case in italy in November. Anyone have experience with Lowa renegades or Danner moutain 600 leafs?
I don’t want to sound like a jerk, but — if you want a new pair of boots you could use for hunting or hiking back home, that’s great. But if you’re lookin specifically for your honeymoon for casual walking in the rain, get a pair of Chelsea boots and waterproof them with wax. Bludstones are fine, but you can get them up and down the price spectrum from sub-$100 to well over $1,000.

My wife and I, went on a two week Italian vacation this past May. I wore Allbirds the entire time.

I would have rather wore my hiking boots, but I basically let my wife pick out my outfits. 😂 the trip was important to her, so I wore clothes over there, that I would never wear here. But the Allbirds were comfy!

Thanks for all the well wishes! We’re doing 4 days each in Rome, Venice, and a rural resort in Sienna. Should be a good time if we can avoid the pick pockets and burnt out feet!
Expect rain in southern Tuscany. It will likely rain in Siena in November but it’s a beautiful city regardless. Tuscany is my second favorite region of Italy, right behind the Alps of Trentino, Friulia and Veneto. It probably won’t rain much in Venice in November and if it does it’ll be light but likely last most of the day. Rome will probably be dry the bulk of November. Waterproof shoes may not be the wrong choice but I’d go with a trail runner. No matter what you wear, locals will be able to tell you’re American or at the very least, a tourist.

Good luck in Venice for 4 days….the historic part in the lagoon is actually pretty small. Rome would be enjoyable in 3-4 days and it’ll give you a day each to see the big sites.

Best advice for avoiding pick pockets is to put your stuff in a fanny pack. Put a zip tie through the buckle so it can’t be easily removed. Never put your wallet in an unzipped jacket pocket or your back pocket. Rome and Venice are crawling with pick pockets and the police will do nothing to help you, especially as an American tourist (or tourist in general). Petty crime is looked at as a fact of life in Italy. Bars on every window and robust deadbolts on every door is the norm. You don’t leave spare change in your car and people rarely lock their car doors cause the thieves will just break the windows anyway.

I've not been to Italy, but I've been to Paris, London, Munich, Amsterdam, etc. London isn't Italy as far as dress goes, but this past spring I wore my brown light hiker Aku boots and Wrangler hiking pants every day. You see people in all sorts of clothing and I'm just as different as anyone else. I probably look American, because I am. You'll be able to pick out the other American by their size. Those cities have people of all types so you're just as random as anyone else.

I always wear light hiking boots when walking on endless stone or concrete. Doing that all day in a pair of Nikes always gives me sore feet.

If you don't want to stand out then go with some of the understated suggestions people already gave. I'm not going walk around with an American flag shirt on and look like a doofus, but it also isn't my responsibility to be something I'm not. At the very least I try to look like I care when I wake up.

Congrats on the marriage!

For most of my travels in Europe I wear a pair of New Balance 998's in the gray. They go well enough with chino's and a button down, but also comfortable for all day city walking. Plus new balance is cool again!

One thing I've noticed makes a difference for me is taking a pair of comfortable indoor shoes so you're not barefoot in the less padded hotel floors. I take the EVA Birkenstocks, but Hoka recovery slides or Crocs would work too.

Could buy nice Italian shoes upon arrival and skip to the tariff. My go to shoe for Europe is Rockport waterproof chukka. They have dressy shoe version and boot version.

“Italian walking honeymoon” sounds like slang for hanky panky every time I read the title. 🙂
