Realistic MOA Expectations vs Marketing

Do you have a couple of recommendations for barrels of this quality?

Also, would there be anything you'd watch out for, or that would change your approach in any way, in adding a suppressor? Especially if we're talking a thin AR 16" barrel, with a heavier hard-use suppressor? Wondering about things like barrel-whip, etc.

Wouldn’t barrel whip be less with a weight hanging on the end?

Really any legit quality barrel. I’m not a barrel snob- the good ones all shoot well, and every once in a while they all produce lemons. Lilia, Brux, Shilen, Bartlien, Ace, Preferred, Rock Creek, X-Caliber, etc. Even Shaw makes good barrels.

Nope. I’ve got silly thin barrels on both 5.56, 6.5cm, and 308 gas guns. All shoot fantastic.

Why would anyone care in the least how an old hunting rifle groups with 10 shot groups? Thats in the category of things that are actually never ever going to be a consideration. Would not waste multiple boxes of $3 round hunting ammunition to shoot a group every 100 yards to 500. Never going to shoot that much hunting. Never going to shoot that much at targets since the barrel is blazing after 6. It simply does not matter.

I understand you guys just want to make the op feel bad because he has way less money into a rifle than most of you do, and you need to find some way to get him to shoot worse than you do.

Op shoot a 3 shot group, measure it, realize it will do anything you need and enjoy the rifle.

Grasping much?

The OP's newest rifle is wearing a scope that costs $1500. The whole setup was probably $3000-3500. It seems likely that he's got $50 for ammo.

Is it that simple though?

My understanding is that every barrel has at least some whip, we are looking for a barrel that whips the same every shot.

So a thin barrel may whip more but if if its whipping the same every shot, do we care?

All way beyond my knowledge/experience level but this is the internet so.. I dont think we care? I was basically just saying that I dont think hanging 10 ounces off the front of a barrel that is going to whip anyway is going to make the whip aspect any worse. The "whip" amount may have something to do with being more picky and temperamental with what is shot?
