That’s a cool looking rattler. What species is it?

Looks like a pygmie to me. We get a lot of those down here. They are fiesty at times, usually sleeping on the trails at 0500.

It isn’t, not native to Colorado. It’s a prairie rattlesnake.

How did it taste??

I used to have a really old cookbook with a few rattlesnake recipes. "Prairie Shrimp" was one of them. I felt like that was a pretty accurate description of the couple I have eaten.

Not much going on but they weren't bad on the grill.

Southern pacific I believe

Eastern Oklahoma western diamondback. He was huge pushing 6ft and its head was as big as my fist.
