Just wondering if there’s a artificial antler that works as good as the real thing for rattling bucks in?

Black rack. I have had very good luck with them.

I’ve had good results with the “rattle bags” as well. The sound doesn’t seem to carry as far as the real antlers do, but I’ve never seen that as an issue.

In my experience, mature bucks seems to often ignore the sounds of lesser bucks fighting. It’s almost like in their head, they don’t feel such insubordinate are worth their time or effort, they don’t see them as a threat. I like to use the biggest/ heaviest antlers I’m willing to drag with me into a stand. The bigger and badder, and louder you can make them sound, the better the results in my experience.

I think the knight and hale pack rattle( now called Da’bone I think) sounds just as good and packs down to nothing but I live in New Hampshire so it’s not like there are a bunch of 140+ bucks running around beating the crap out of each other!

Same here.

I have tried them all....a rattle bag is the most convenient.......but I call in more humans than deer on public land. Several years ago I used a set of fairly large synthetic antlers and was going at it pretty hard on a cold November morning. Suddenly something hit me on the cheek.......so I stopped and looked around to figure out what happened. About 2.5" of one plastic antler tip had broken off from the cold and force of rattling. Hmmmm.....

Hard to beat the real thing. I use a matching set of sheds I found

I have also had some success calling in deer with the deer bleat call.... but they come in curious and looking so be ready.
