Rangefinder recommendations?

I have a 1000yd rangefinder, but it isn't a very high end one. I think I paid about $240 at Bass Pro, which means it should have probably been a $200 rangefinder new. Im planning to use it rifle elk hunting out west, and Im not sure if its up to par. Anyone know if it is? And if not, can you recommend one <$500? Thanks

when a rangefinder says 1000 max yards, it usually means off a reflective target vs a deer or even a tree. in the paper work it should state deer sized animal. I bet it may range a deer to 500. also need to try to see how long it takes to rake that distance. once you figure out what the max range deer color/size target, you need to figure out what max shooting distance.

Sig, leica and leupold all make great rangefinders. Like mentioned get one rated at much further yardage you intend to need. 2400 plus imo
