Rangecraft velocities high - solution?

I bought a Rangecraft chrono a couple months ago and finally shot some arrows over it tonight. All but 2 of probably 40 readings were 50 fps faster than I expected. When I googled I found some threads on archery talk discussing the same problem but didn’t see anyone with a solution. Has anyone found a way to improve readings?
I tried multiple distances from the target, different heights over the chrono, offset from target and double checked I had no firmware updates.

It’s the fireware (hopefully). They are super helpful, just call them.

Yes make sure firmware is most recent and your chronograph needs to be at least 20 yds from your target to be accurate

Agreed. I bought the athlon this winter. I haven't done a lot of extensive side by side stuff, but it sure seems to track right with the bows in our house. And, it was within about 1 fps with the garmin at our local pro shop on one of my bows.
