I've had a Loopy 2800 for a few years. It does ok. Glass is blah but it ranges good.
Issue I've got though is the user system. You have to google the up the ballistic profile and set it to that specific bullet and velocity to make the angle compensation work. It's a pain.
So going from my 6 Arc that shoots 2500 to my 6 UM at 3300 could leave a huge margin of error.

Can't really swing range finding binos but I could probably find a Revic handheld.

Also looking at a Leica 3500. I had a Leica back in the day and the glass was great. I'd use it a lot as just a monocular.

So is the Revic worth the 1200?

How easy it for a Dad to swap profiles for his kids guns on the fly in the app?

Thanks Fam

Given that Gunwerks is releasing the Gen 2 Revic Binos, there are going to be a bunch of used Gen 1's going up for sale in your price range soon.

I've had good luck with Sig RF Binos - the app makes it easy to swap Gun/Bullet combos, and the pricier binos don't need the app to do it at all.

I'll keep an eye out. There's a Revic on market place I might try and snag.

Also checking the usual demo dealers for a pair of Leica Geovids. Binos would definitely be the way to go. Would save having to swap between tools. But my current binos are Zeiss Victories so I don't want to down grade on glass quality just to have range finding.

I’m satisfied with my Revic BR4. I swap between a few rifles. The saved rifle profiles make it fairly simple

I'm liking the idea of just being able to range the target and not have to pick the phone up to run the dope in an app. I've been watching some YouTube on it. It seems pretty slick. It won't calculate the wind for you right? You still need a kestrel or some skill to call the wind? Then you enter it into the range finder? Or you can set a default base wind right?

It doesn’t read wind speed, but if you know the wind speed and direction you can input that and it’ll calculate everything. Yes you can set a default base wind, I think mine is set at 5 mph cross wind. The phone app is pretty handy for changing wind direction and speed, but it’s not difficult to do just in the rangefinder either.

The 3500 is a great rangefinder with excellent glass, but changing profiles on the fly was not easy in my experience. You will have to click through a menu to turn on the Bluetooth connection to your phone, then select a profile.

The glass doesn't compare, but the Sig 5K (what I'm using now) and others make it easy--click the rangefinder on and select the profile in your app. Done.

Did you state that you were coming to a Shoot2Hunt class next year?

Yeah, Ryan gave me an invite and I'd be stupid not to take him up on it.
Plus I'm in Great Falls so it'd be a short drive over there.

Pretty excited to be humbled and learn a lot!

Good deal.

On that note- you will regret buying a separate bino and RF. The general consensus from students is that they will never go back to separate units.

I went from victories to geovid Rs and have no regrets. Mine don't have ballistics though

I'd be better off using what I've got for now. Then the money was going to spend on a range finder use on a trainer rifle? Get as much shooting as I can this summer? Then next spring get some ranging binos for the class?
Thanks Form!

In general yes. But, RF binos for hunting- not just the class. Used Leica Geovid R’s can be found in your price range and are excellent RF binos.

I'm supposed to be getting sent a pair of the Gen 2s Revics here soon... If you want you can use my Gen 1 BLR10B's this summer training and for your Fall hunts and see how they do for you. If you end up liking them you can buy them whenever or send them back. PM me.

The Sig Kilo rangefinder would fit the bill, you can have multiple bullet profiles and swap between them on the rangefinder
