Rain Jacket- Mid September Northern Ontario

Moose hunt, northern Ontario, 5 day fly in hunt. How much of a rain jacket do I need? Outfitter says, good rain jacket.......we talking Kuiu Yukon good or REI good? Thanks!

Spend 10 days in the brooks last year and used Pnuma rain gear(3L Element Proof Rain Jacket) . Wetted out everyday by mid afternoon after having it completely dry via stove in tent all night. I would have said it was much better than REI rain gear.

Taking a Kuiu Yukon jacket this year. lots of good recommendations from rokslide. Cold and Wet sucks

hiking or boating or vtt? if not hiking i will look for grundens, helly hansen or guy cotten and you will thank if it is really raining.

My KUIU Yukon is the best rain jacket that I've ever owned...it's bombproof and totally trustworthy. I also have the pants and they are excellent as well, especially when field dressing a bull. Both are always with me on moose hunts.

I agree with the above recommendation for HH etc, but as mentioned, only if you're mostly stationary and not hiking around. I have a HH rain jacket and it's water-proof for sure, but it doesn't breathe. It's a less expensive option, but if I'm moving around my HH is not my choice because I quickly sweat out and get soaked from the inside.

indeed you must remain not active otherwise the wet is on both side ...

I’ve got a Yukon that has held up for yearly moose hunts since I got it back in 2021. Before that I had a stone glacier rain jacket and that thing suuuucked.

I also have a few Branden’s and belly Hansen rain jackets around which are great for moose hunting when I’m sitting on hills in the rain or driving jet boats, shouldering moose quarters etc.
