Raccoon enters house and attacks baby in Idaho

Hope the baby is OK, sad that they had to take it to Salt Lake, not a good sign.

That is just nasty, but I admit to now being morbidly curious what kind of house the racoon broke into.

Looks like it happened near Burley, Idaho - small farming community close to Twin Falls:

Sooooo.... coon hunting anyone? Might be a good reason to get some thermals ive been looking at.
Back in the day, lots of folks in your neck of the woods ran lions and bears with coon hounds. Haven't heard much about coon hunting in Idaho though - back in the late '60's when I lived in Southeast Missouri, it was very popular. They are a formidable predator and I've heard from coon hunters in SE Missouri that they are very dangerous to dogs in water - they can drown them. I lost several chickens to raccoons when I had my small scale egg business near Nampa years ago with free-range hens. Mostly, they wanted the eggs but if a hen decided to square up with a racoon, that was the end.

Sure hope the baby recovers with no lingering scars. When I was but a child living in southern Wisconsin we had a raccoon for a pet, but mom made dad get ride of it because he would give it beer and it would get a little drunk, when it did it got real nasty.

Dog doors will do it, depending on the dog.
