Anybody have any opinion or experience with the vortex viper 65mm scopes? I'm looking at picking either the little 50mm minox or the 65mm viper... I know the viper will weigh more, but is the glass going to be that much better? Price range is under 600. Anything else I should take a look at in that range?

I have one. If you get it on sale it will serve you well within reasonable distances. It doesn’t perform well the first and last 30 min. I am looking for better options but will keep this for the truck.

For similar money, you should really consider the Athlon Ares 15-45x65 and the Maven CS1 15-45x65. Both can be found used for under that $600 and will compare favorably to the Vortex Razor glass. Cameraland NY has the Athlon on sale for less than $600 and I have personally sold my Mavens (both angled and straight) for around that same amount.

Most appreciate that they are smaller and lighter than the Viper and have better glass.
