Quick mount scope on Tikka Battue - Anyone have any feedback?

Folks I recently bought a Tikka Battue in a 30-06. My goal for this rifle is to use it as my main backcountry rifle. I have added a rail to the rifle and am going to add a VX-2 3-9 CDS on the top with Leupold Backcountry cross slot mounts and carry a modified 1/2 inch wrench.

My thoughts are that having the open sights for bear protection/ close range bush shots will be great and then in the event a person spots game (no further than 500 yard shot) a person could attach the scope and dial.

My hope would be less than 1MOA POI with these type of mounts in a field situation.

I obviously will be doing many range tests to validate that this will work but looking for any other experience.

Thanks

I would skip the rail and just use Sportsmatch or Warne rings on the integrated rail. Smoother, less clunky, keeps the scope lower (so it more similar to cheek weld looking through irons). I have a several scopes I swap around on 2 tikkas. Going back on same rifle as zeroed, I get good return to zero. Even switching between the 2 rifles, there is only about 1.5moa repeatable difference. I assume there was some amount of luck in getting two that close.

I swap a Nightforce in Sportsmatch rings between a .223 trainer T3x and a 7mm-08 T3x when hunting season rolls around. The recoil lug really helps make things repeatable.

If you're looking for a QD mount that is actually a true return to zero, Bobro will be the one. I can personally say that there is under 1/2 moa shift when swapping optics back and forth, no tools required. Im swapping the thermal and long range dayscope on my 6.5 M1A and still hitting steel out to 80020210106_105849.jpg20210106_105831.jpg6247.jpeg

Old thread that got resurrected. Just wanted to say that the factory T3X Battue sights are a thing of beauty. Once you get them adjusted and dialed in for your eye you don’t need a scope out to 200 yards on big game. I’ve knocked down several coyotes and even squirrels/rabbits with the open sights past 200 yards. Practicing is super fun too! My favorite out of all my T3Xs!

What stock is that?

was wondering if anyone used a piccatiny rail with the battue sights on a tikka t3x?
My T-690 Nattue 6.5 Swede with Nightforce PicRail and VX2 2-7x33 LR Duplex in low Leupy rings.
I am a huge fan of irons, have multiple bolt actions with Lyman M-48s and Redfield 70s. All my Leverguns carry irons. I am of the firm persuasion that the Tikka Battue sight is the fastest iron I’ve ever used on any longarm. My 690 very seldom wears this scope, but if needed it’s two minutes to install. The Nightforce rail has a valley that facilitates using the irons.
