Hey guys, just moving into a set up I plan to dial and trying to figure a few things out. I picked up a Tikka 223, put it in a rokstock and topped it with an RS 1.2 in UM rings. Gun shoots great at 100 yards and is zeroed.

Heading up north where I can stretch its legs a bit later this week but am a bit confused looking at drop on ballistics apps from different sources.

Starting with basic quick drop using ELDMs which mean standard base, thats not close to what either the Hornady app or AB Quantum show, adding the .5 Correction factor for a slow gun matches AB but still way off from Hornady. Any thoughts on why AB and Hornady App would be so different and what I should start with as a base to work from? I am guessing the AB numbers which match the quick drop base with a correction, weird Hornady would be so far off though on one of their own factory loadings.

Edit, the table I posted didnt work

Quick drop
200-.5
300-1
400-2
500-3

Quick drop with Correction
200-.5
300-1.5
400-2.5
500-3.5

Hornady App
200-.6
300-1.5
400-2.7
500-4.1

AB Quantum
200-.6
300-1.4
400-2.3
500-3.5

Double check your inputs. One may have a default that is different than the other that you didnt catch. Just from reading on here I know a lot of people have had issues with the Hornady app. Maybe check the calculator on their website.

Here is a drop chart using the shooter app shooter that I recently made for a 18 inch 223 tikka shooting AAC 77 OTM. The density altitude was @5000 feet and velocity was @2800. IMG_3654.jpeg
What ammunition were you using?

This was for 73 eldm though I also shoot the aac 75gr sabres. Both have very similar MV and share a 100 yrd zero. Per my chrono both are around 2700 at the muzzle out of a 22inch tikka.

This is roughly what I got with the shooter app for your combo.

Thanks, that matches both AB and what I was expecting for results. The hornady app seems good for my 6.5cm but really weird on 223 with any bullet I select.

What is your muzzle velocity, altitude, temperature, and projectile you’re using?

This. The physical models are similar, so if you're getting large discrepancies between apps, it's almost always because you've got one or more mistakes or oversights in your parameter inputs.

This is my Tikka .223 with 75gr bthp AAC. Muzzle velocity is about 2800 with 24" barrel. It seems pretty close to my field experience.

Hornady 4dof has so many issues frequently, that it is quite frankly garbage.

Ok I think thats my issue then. Everything seems to make sense on AB, the output from 4dof is what was confusing me.
