MV true up

My 300 wm data calls for the same drops
2.4 at 500 and 2.9 at 565

Double check your zero

And I’d say get yourself a plate to shoot at.

And make sure you are getting a good range.

Felt fine, I shot the same day at 300, 500 targets and steel. Everything on 2 guns lined up fine. 6.5 saum with 156B, good at all distances that I shot. The 22 creedmoor was great at 300, 500 and not 565!

I could have held somewhere different, but I don't think I would do that 3 times in a row.

.4 mils at 565 is approximately 8”

I saw the same thing on the ballistics apps. I'm not going to do anything, adjustment wise, until I can shoot it again to see if it repeats or if it's me.

I'll start at 100, recheck zero and then go to 500 and 565, that's as far as I can get to for now.

Personally I have experienced poor results shooting at small spots at range.

I prefer a larger high contrast “plate”
And rather then aim at a small dot.

I quadrant out the plate into equal parts with the reticle.

I feel that the cross hair can cover enough of a small spot to induce error.

For what it’s worth.

Thanks for posting this, I’ll work on something bigger for the next time. For this shooting range you can’t take your own steel. I can get a big piece of cardboard and paint it to get a better aiming grid

Next time you shoot put a water line on your targets. It will enable you to line your reticle up better to be certain your poa matches poi. It also lets you judge elevation errors more accurately from afar using your reticle. Think a thick black sharpie line that horizontally intersects your target dot.

I’d also find a way to make sure your scope is tracking correctly. Heresy, I know, to even bring up such a topic when an swfa is being used, but you need to eliminate that variable. I’d confirm zero at 100, then dial between every shot from 100, out to 500 and back a few times. Again, do this with a waterline. If it’s got a solid zero, tracks perfectly from 100-500 yards, then the wheels fall off at 565, it’s probably not the gun.

It's not 65 total yards, 500 was good 565 was 6".
565 - 500 = 65yds. You stated you got an extra 6" high @ 565 when dialing the correct come up so in my interpretation you have a 6" error within 65 yards. If that is the case there is something wrong and it's not your ballistic solution since it's about where it should be.

Agree, I’ll shoot it again with a water line and see if I can figure it out from there. I’m convinced it the dude behind the trigger!

Just like a zero, I would make sure your truing if you end up with more than 3 rounds.

Pay attention to environment. Mirage especially. Many guys will true in the middle of summer to some mirage that leaves their solver with error later in the year.
