Hey guys, I run a belt pouch on my belt. I have to use 2 hands to zip it up... really not a big deal at all but figured I would ask to see if you guys had any tricks. Its sort of annoying sometimes.

I haven't been annoyed enough to look for a solution, but I agree that it's a minor annoyance and would also be interested in anyone's solution.

Rub a birthday cake candle or a crayon on the teeth.

Worked on a jacket I have so it should work on the pouches as well.

I don't have theirs but on my own creations if you don't unzip all the way down the side (keep the zipper open on the face only) you can usually do it one handed. Inherently without a stiffener on the back of pouch when you zip around the sides it doesn't like to respond well to a single hand tugging at it. If you look at what exo did with there pouches they put a stiffener in the back of it. Having a zipper only on the face or along the top would help as well but they your opening is reduced to stuff things through. Pick your compromise accordingly.

If you have a scuba shop near you, get some zipper wax made for dry suit zippers. Works awesome, bees wax works well to. Rub a small area of the zipper teeth with the wax, then work he zipper back and forth a few times to spread the wax. I treat mine once a year.

The more stuff i have in mine the easier they are to open. Careful using wax, it'll make dust and grit stick to the teeth and make it harder to zip down the road (personal experience)

You didn't say what size belt and pouches but that makes a difference. I wear a small belt and run small pouches usually and have no problem doing them one-handed.

The parachute riggers I knew in the Navy used bar soap(on a rope of course) to lubricate zippers, makes me wonder what would happen when wet though, would just dissolve and your back to square one! I

weird to see this, out of all the packs ive used, the kifaru hip pockets are the only ones ive ever been able to open one handed.

Same here. Not that I have used a ton of packs or pockets but I never noticed Kifaru being hard to open at all.

One other thing that might help is to make sure the top corners are stretched out when you attach the pouch so that there is tension right away when you go to pull the zipper.

Not sure if it matters on the k brand pouches, but other hip belt pockets I've had wouldn't zip right if they were too floppy between the attachment points.

I paid attention to this over the weekend. I found that as long as I didn't try to zip around the corner, it was fine. So, the rear zipper closes the length of the pocket, from the rear corner to the front corner, and the front zipper closes the narrow leading edge of the pocket.
