Quality Management Question

Way off topic to hunting, so I hope it is ok here, but I have a question for those that deal with Quality Control in their 9-5's. I am being tasked to identify a suitable quality management system (QMS) to the current at the company I work for. Looking online for a recommended QMS providers is like reading the coupon section of a Sunday paper.

The processes I am most interested in from a QMS are document and change control management for internal specifications and quality documents and continuous improvement and planning (corrective action plans/corrective and preventive actions). I would prefer a cloud based system if at all possible too.

Strange question, but does anybody have experience with a quality management system that they would rave about? If there are forums that deal with Quality Control, pointing me in that direction would be helpful too. :)

Thanks everybody!

Tony

Not sure what industry you’re in or what the budget is. For doc control and CAPA we use QUMAS. The module for CAPA is called ProcessCompliance. Of all the different systems we use they’re probably the best.

In addition. You’re going to want to steer clear of the cloud based systems. Depending on your industry and regs they’re nearly impossible to truly validate.

Not a rigid compliance need. For the most part it’s e-commerce consumer packaged goods. Using spreadsheets would be a step up.....I would like to take further than that.

Ok. We’re ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820 compliant so we’re going to be stricter than you. I did some digging. While the software is cloud based Im pretty sure we have the server based system so the “cloud” aspect is moot for validation. But that may not be relevant to you. It’s actual name is QUMAS EQMS by Dassault Systemes Ltd.

I am looking into new CAD too. I believe they have SolidWorks and Catia. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone maybe. Thanks for commenting and the help.

What industry are you in? I've been in QMS and supplier quality in oil and gas for the last 6 years.

Never ever did i think id be discussing dassault systemes on here..catia and SW go together like oil and water, even tho same parent company. If you want to discuss CAD im your guy. QMS is some other poor souls obligation.

Ya, sorry about that. Not sure where else I could go. I know we all have a common interest in hunting and thought the reach here would be better than other places.

I am only familiar with Solidworks from a very high level. Which of the two would be better for small company with part assembly needs? SW or Catia? like the idea of Dassault now because of the CAD and Quality reach.

I am open to any and all advice.

ETQ is one that a division of my company uses and they have been happy with it. Our location and most others use homebrew systems in Sharepoint.

We looked at ETQ, Intelex and one other that I can't remember. All would work, but ETQ was the best of the group for our needs. We are a bulk materials maker, and a lot of the software is designed for parts makers.

That last line is why we homebrewed the system.

I'm in aerospace with NADCAP, ISO 17025 and AS9100. We use some commercially available software for document control, but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's atrocious. Because we are a really old legacy company with a bunch of antiquated computer systems, nothing integrates. Anything new blows up the older stuff.

My gut response would be SW. Catia is more specialized and i find mainly used by aerospace. Id see what your internal folks are comfortable with, maybe someone has a background in Creo, inventor, or another cad SW.
