. Those have a pretty awful BC and combine that with a light bullet and heavy wind, yeah you probably had to hold. You wouldn’t have had to hold for wind if you were shooting a 6.5 prc with 147s or a 6cm with 115s. Gotta pick the right tool for the job.

I have a couple 223s and I love shooting them in the wind because its an exteme example and helps with practice. I hunt with high BC bullets, all over .3 so I don’t have to worry about wind and a 300 yard shot.

I can say with certainty there is times to hold wind sub 600 yards. I shot a pronghorn at 480 and the correct Windhold had me 6-8" off of his body. With a very slippery 133 berger elite hunter from a 25-284 going ~3k.

There are some incredible live versions on YouTube. Possibly the weirdest was when they performed it 'unplugged' on national television with traditional Greek instruments:

From memory, that was the airing that led to their 'unmasking' - some diligent person included all of their real names in the show credits, and the rest is history.

This was some years after I roadied for them - so I had seen them not only unmasked but wholly naked in the dressing room. Wish I could post here what they got up to before the gig but I'd probably get banned.

For what it's worth, Damian Cowell (Humphrey B. Flaubert in TISM) continued making songs as Root!, the DC3, the Arseless Chaps, and Damian Cowell's Disco Machine - all are on YT. Some total gold there, including 'My baby is interested in geopolitics, but I just wanna dance'. TISM reformed a couple of years ago, and some hilarious full concerts are online too.
