Q&A for Minox ZP5 5-25x56mm THLR scope

Per Blaser US they are having an internal meeting this week to discuss how to better handle Minox support and expedite the service.

I was able to finally reach someone at Blaser US by dialing different extensions. German Minox support via email is ok just has a time zone and translation gap but generally very responsive and helpful. Germany set expectations on cost and long delivery time (14-15 weeks) due to EU import/export regulations for "tactical" scopes.

I like Europtic. They have been good to buy from. One rifle order got a little messed up but no biggie.

When I buy a new machine, truck, or even a consumer product such as a chainsaw, tool, weed whacker, cordless drill...and it F's up, I send it to the dealer and they handle it. If they have a new one sitting there, I get it. If it has to go through a warranty repair, they take care of it. I don't have to send it back to who ever built it. This whole thing of buying it in one place and sending it to the manufacturer is baffling to me. I had to do it with a Leica product and it was stupid. The dealer did step in but I sure didn't send it there to start with. I guess that's the way it is with toys.

This. But also I just want my scopes to not arrive broken.

Anybody hear the plan to adjust the parralax on the duds?

I looked at a functional one last week and in hindsight wished I had asked them to just send me the tool that will turn the dust cover on the parallax assembly and try to do it myself rather than wait 6 months with no answers like I bet is about to happen.

Wait, what's this about/source?

I have found my scope to be extremely durable and without the funkyness that you sometimes get with "other" scopes
You guys can talk shit all you want. Im not retarded. Just placed 5th in open light at a tough nrl shoot with my nx8 on a different gun. My 6.5 creed shoots better then that gun.

Is your scope one of the last shipment? If not then hold your opinions. Its entirely fair to question what we received. Half of them are shit. What other defects might be present?

For the record...

My friend hasn't heard a peep from minox on the return process after he shipped it. Many emails and voicemails.

And I played with mine again during sight in day. Its zero from my last session appears to be relevant still (thankfully). Took it to 720, 800, and 1120 and back to zero and it did what it was supposed to do. Im gonna run it at bartlesville. But its still on probation.

Sure glad you did so well.

You mistake me for someone that cares what you have to say.

Minox has emailed me an update, so I imagine others will hear soon.

They state that the repair process is going to be lengthy due to shipping and customs clearance, so they would prefer to exchange them for a different model that does not of course have the THLR reticle. They do, however, state that they will repair them, but it is estimated to not be a fast process. They clarify that the repair itself is not slow, but the entirety of the warranty process will be because of things outside their control.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but the THLR reticle is a big piece of why I purchased both these scopes. An exchange for something without one is completely off the table for me.

@EuroOptic is the only resolution here truly to let Minox deal with this? If it comes down to an exchange for a non-THLR scope, that’s an unacceptable solution as far as I am concerned. Especially since they were broken inside the box before they arrived to me (and to you). There are quite a few scopes I would rather have than a Minox if a THLR reticle isn’t sitting inside the tube.

I got the same response and let Minox know it is completely unacceptable to offer a lesser scope without the features or reticle as an exchange.

Basically from the email, our scopes have been sitting at Blaser USA with nothing being done despite promises that they would send out scopes for repair on a weekly basis. They gave excuses about it being show season and them being busy. I don’t care about their own internal deficiencies. They offered a defective scope for sale. We have all been patiently waiting for a timely repair. For them to have done nothing in the weeks since they have had our scopes and then offer to give us an inferior scope in exchange is beyond unacceptable.

We as consumers need to demand a proper recompense for this fiasco. We received defective scopes. We then had to pay to send the scopes back to Blaser USA. Now they are offering a completely different and inferior scope in exchange of a lengthy repair process. It has been a while since I have been dealt with in such an unprofessional way.

Terrible customer service... Did they really think this was going to be an acceptable solution? No skin in the game here, but I have been following along because A new Minox could have been in my future. Not anymore. Total fiasco imo. It all started with not getting prepaid labels. That speaks volumes to me, when it's obvious it's not a one off, possible user error or old scope. Literally brand new, broken from the factory. Shitty QC, shitty CS.

Where is Eurooptic? Why haven’t clear expectations been set? It’s not a secret that the reticle was the only reason these sold so fast. What a mess.

Yeah, it is very annoying having to pay to ship something they sent to you broken, and then be offered something entirely dissimilar in exchange.
