Q&A for Minox ZP5 5-25x56mm THLR scope

This is interesting - both of mine seem fine, but I wouldn't describe their parallax the way you guys with white-box ones have been.

With the ones I have seen, from about 5x to 12x or so magnification- I can set the parallax to about 300y and functionally aim well from contact to 800 yards or so. Of course it’s not perfect, but they have a huge range on the lower half of the scopes power where everything looks good. At 15-25x it becomes more critical to adjust parallax.

Ah, this is great reference to compare against, thank you.

One of the things that concerned me a bit, is that things seem to get blurry at distances under 40ish yards or so - if you were to have yours set on a given lower-range mag setting, about what range is the closest you can focus clearly with the parallax knob?

FWIW, the Minox specs say parallax adjustment is from 50 m / 54.7 yards.

So even if the scope seems to be operating correctly, how do I know if it is actually as good as it should be regarding DOF and all the other attributes that made these scopes popular? I don't have a good one to compare it to, and will always be wondering if I am missing out on what made them so good. Should it be sent back to be verified?

I have this exact same question.

I sent an email to my rep at Blaser this morning, including a screenshot of everyone who messaged me - He has all your contact info, I'll see if he wants to contact you guys or have you contact him.
Step 1, here we go...

Once again, Apologies guys - this sucks.
Keep us in the loop!

The only thing I can offer is If someone wants to send the scope in, I’ll look at it and compare and send it back.

@3gunyotehtr and @RockAndSage the only other thing I can offer in addition to Form's incredibly generous offer is ... if it's not better than 90% of scopes you've ever used, then there might be something wrong with it ...

[Not joking here / as my kids would say, "For realz".]

I talked my buddy (and myself) into one of these....

First range outing was tonight. (Indoor)

I feel like a terrible friend. His was unusable. Couldn't get any sort of focus on the target or reticle at any distance. He fired a few shots at 25, then reeled his target in. "Whyd you reel it in, you should be able to see the that hole at 200+ yards with that thing!"...well he couldn't see shit. Stopped wasting ammo.

Mine was ok-ish. And I think the ish was largely due to the range conditions/barrel mirage. It was indoors with really crappy lighting and was humid and about 32 degrees. Got it zerod at 100. And did a 6.5 mil tall targeted. Seemed to track properly.

Shooting my other rifle with a known NX8...it was also mediocre after I started firing. Lots of shimmer off of the barrel and reaper with brake (ls wild cover). So range conditions were definitely sus.

I need to actually compare both to each other in daylight. But I will say my zp5 seems worthless under 20 yards.

Went back to friends gun after I was done and yep, it sucks.

Bad timing. Im trying to get him into NRL. First 1 day this weekend then freestone the 20th. Im loading him my athlon I took off. So fingers crossed my zp5 holds up. Otherwise I'll be using my 25 prc and nx8.

Man, that does suck. Someone up above or in another thread made a crack about a bunch of these being the returns Blaser was sitting on, and given the volume of people with problems I'm starting to wonder if there isn't something to that.

That....or it's Mr. minox's downs syndrome son's attempts at putting together scopes 🤣.

For what its worth the range's shitty spotting scope was crystal clear 😅

If it was truly a "oh we found a bunch of scopes in a weird inventory location that were off the books" situation. Thats always tough. Usually 2 or 3 sets of employees have come and gone and it was forgotten why they were there, and why they weren't on the books. Could definitely be the culprit.

Not sure if this is normal or not as well...mine had quite a bit of oil accumulated. 20260122_184939.jpg
