Does anyone have any experience with the Pulsar Merger LRF XT50 Bino? I'm really interested if the 1280 X 1024 resolution is worth the jump from the XP50 (640 X 480) or the XL50 (1024 x 768). By my math the XT has 1.3M pixels, the XT has 786k pixels and the XP has 307k pixels. Is my math on this wrong?

I currently have Trail XP38 & XP50 rifle scopes that have the 640 X 480 resolution. They currently track well and hold zero between multiple rifles. I'd like to invest in a nice bino to compliment the scopes and run them for another couple years.

All that is to say that I'm familiar with Pulsar 640 X 480 technology. Is the new 1280 X 1024 going to be 4X the wow and resolution?

Yes and no.

Is 1280 going to blow 640 out of the water? Absolutely. However, the XT50 is 2X base mag. So as soon as you add in an additional 2X digital mag on top of that (4X) total, you’re back down to 640 resolution. 1280 sensors need bigger glass to support higher base magnifications.

Compare that to the Nocpix Quest H50R binos, 640 resolution, 4X base mag. You’re going to have a better image with these on base mag than you will with the XT50 at 2X digital mag due to them having a better sensor (<15 mK compared to <40 mK on the XT50, lower is better).

The Nocpix doesn’t get you 1280 on base mag or the daytime sensor though.

If you’re wanting 1280 binos then the Pulsar can’t be beat. Just need to understand that they may not be the wow factor you’re expecting.

We’re a thermal dealer and can get you about anything you want. Feel free to shoot me a PM with more questions and also happy to hop on a call with you to talk about options.
