Anyone have any light weight recommendations for pulleys for hanging game bags and or bear bags?

Never known of anyone using a pulley. Why would it be necessary and practical to do so? Usually toss a length of p cord with a rock or pull out over a branch.

We used a small pulley up in Alaska to hoist our dry bags up and down each day.
Didnt use paracord, but a rope that is much easier to hold

You can also use a caribeaner so rope glides better than the friction going over a branch

+1 on carabiner to help with friction. Check out videos of PCT bear bagging technique.

Clay Hayes has got an excellent how to on using 550 cord and carabiners. Used it last season and made 30 lbs feel like nothing.

Also, I pack a snot rag to tie a rock in to throw the block line onto the desired branch.

If you want lightweight and aren't looking for "cheapest", check out sailing rigging. If you have a West Marine nearby, go geek out.

This is what I use. 3 wheels each side. Weighs .90 pound. Can put an entire elk in a tree, or off the ground at least by myself. I carry it during rifle season.

On the exo facebook group there was a post on the packapull pulley system. Ive never used it but looks interesting as would be nice for food bags in bear country or if solo and hanging quarters to bone out. I believe it was around 3-5 ounces.

Out of curiosity, do you still use this setup and can you give a parts list? I am looking for something just like this or the pacapull system....
When I get home I'll look through my stuff and see if I can find one. I'm sure I have a few.

I've used the chain links posted above, it works pretty well.

Pack A Pull 4oz plus cordage for game bags. My buddy uses climbing pulleys and an ascender to hoist game up. For bear food bags I use an Ursack tied to a tree at shoulder height but my buddies all use a stuff sack and a cord thrown over a high branch with no pulley involved.

This is what I have been looking at. Climbing pulleys are even more expensive then hunting gear! ha. Have you used the Pack A Pull before?
