Ozarks of South Central Missouri
Pros: People look you in the eye and talk honestly; rivers that still flow clear and cool, with maybe a few too many people in summer, but wilderness in winter: cost of living, mid 90's super low; big timber and clean air
Cons: I lived in a very poached county
Western Colorado, early 2000's
Pros: Alpine heaven; deserts with water; a sense of living a dream
Cons: start of blue thinking and rising land costs
Southern Arizona:
Long OTC bow season; firearms freedom; much wild land if you can walk and even more if you can sleep outside; varied terrain; laughing at people complaining about getting what they wanted , like overpopulation, traffic, dopeheads with limited vocabulary, etc...
Cons: the above mentioned people multiplying; possible draw for archery scares me; some border areas now not safe according to my personal rubric; kinda feels a bit dry at times
