Seeing some of these powders makes me sad since I haven’t seen any of some in months
What bullets are you going to use?35 Whelen - Reloader 15
6.5 X 55 Swede - IMR 4350
.280 Rem - Don't know yet. Just starting to hand load for it. As I cant find new powders to save my life I am gonna start with IMR 4350 (I have RL-15, IMR 4064, IMR 4895 and IMR 4350). Gonna watch this thread.
Never loaded the Scirocco, so not much help there. With the GMX and 160 Accubond, RL 22 or 19 should be great; IMR 4831 has always been consistent for me too with heavier weight bullets in a 280. 56.2 grains of RL22 with a 160 Partition has been a good load for me, should work with an Accubond as well. That load is right on the edge of flattening primers, so don't start there, I started around 53 grs. I've found Noslers load data to be extremely conservative.Bluetick78 - For the .280, the wife bought me 150 grain Sciroccos for Christmas (without help, I think). I've got 150 grain GMX's as well. I have a bunch of box ammo in 140 grain, so I was hoping to develop a lead and mono round in the 150 grain range. I'd like to include some 160 grain Accubonds at some point, but they don't exist anymore!
How were the speeds with IMR4831 in the 280? I saw some available today and almost ordered but didn’t. Wasn’t sure if it was a good alternative to H4831sc in my 280ai.Never loaded the Scirocco, so not much help there. The load density isn't super high, but I got great consistency with it. 2925-2950 with 150 Ballistic Tips and Partitions wasn't a problem. Usually SD around 9-14, not YouTube worthy, but definitely good enough to punch years worth of big game tags with. That's out of a mid-eighties Remington mountain rifle with a 22" tube. My newer rifle with a 24" tube clocked the ballistic Tips at 2980.How were the speeds with IMR4831 in the 280? I saw some available today and almost ordered but didn’t. Is the 6.5x55 a modern rifle/load? If so, what velocity do you get? I just picked up a Tikka 6.5x55 and would like something faster than the factory loads that are lower velocity for the old mausers.35 Whelen - Reloader 15

I've been patiently waiting for Nosler, Berger, Hornady, or any bullet manufacturer to release some loading data for RL26 in the .280, but I'm guessing it's pretty low on the priority list for them. What bullet/powder charge/primer combo are you using?....If you don't mind me asking.IMR4831 is my “backup” powder for the .280. I shoot 168s and it gets good speed and accuracy. RL26 is a touch better and I have mostly switched to that. It works fine and my longest deer I have taken was with the 280/IMR load at 780 yards.
Would you mind giving up your .270 load? Bullet and grains? I'm using imr4350 as well with 130 BT's. I get ok results. I'm trying to figure out if it's my load, the gun, or ME.Best in my guns so far.

Perfect, thanks for the info. I've been trying to figure out where to start with a 168 Berger load, I think I just found it!BlueTick, I am shooting 280 Rem not the improved version. I am loading 160 - 168 grain bullets, R-P brass and GM210m primers. I worked carefully from 56 grains to 60 grains of RL26 with the 168 Accubond LR. I settled on 57.5 grains, .060” off the lands. It gives me 2850fps with single digit ES and accuracy has been amazing. I have also loaded 57 grains under the Sierra 160 BTSP and the Hornady 162 ELD-x .040 off the lands with good results as well.
Everything I load with RL26 shoots amazing and usually with extremely low ES.
