I see there are some metal AICS magazines for the 300 PRC but when building a light hunting rifle I’d rather shed some weight if possible.

Any suggestions on a lightweight option for the 300 PRC magazine?

Would this work with a chassis though? I didn’t think you could do a bottom metal with a chassis
Correct.

Polymer magazines are thicker to take the abuse. Thicker means less available length. 300prc is 3.7" so that isn't feasible.

Run an MK Machining single shot sled then single feed. That's the lightest option

I just got the newish MDT 3 round polymer magazine meant for 300WM to work for 300 PRC. Out of the box it is barely long enough but I filed the front inside to give it a little more length and then had to file the inside of the mag just a little where the shoulder of the case is so that it slides smoothly while feeding.

Interesting. May have to try this myself.

Sorry for the late bump - curious to hear what the max OAL of your modified MDT magazine is? I'm building a 300 PRC and looking for mag options. I've found 3 round metal CIP length mags, but more interested in the MDT.

The max OAL will be up to you by how much you are willing to file. It starts at CIP length 3.850 and you can file 50 thou no problem.

Looks like max internal OAL listed is 3.630". Filing 50 thousandths would probably give me the room I need.

I suppose I should start by finding distance to the lands and go from there.

Thanks!

Whoops sorry yes you have the correct dimension. I grabbed the wrong dimension off the website.

The much more important modification needed for 300 PRC is filing the sides of the magazine where the shoulder fits or it will bind.

Anybody else been successful in doing this since I shared it?
