Straight to jail. Then they shoot your dog.Anyone know what would happen if you were a NR, DIY hunting in wilderness? I mean what are the repercussions?
They will ticket you on the spot. If you have a dead animal I'm sure you will be paying damages and have hunting privileges revoked for a few years.Anyone know what would happen if you were a NR, DIY hunting in wilderness? I mean what are the repercussions?
Wyoming wilderness rule sucks along with the alaskas guide rule as well I would be fine with both going awaySee to me that is WILD! You can fish, backpack, predator hunt, but they second you hunt back there without a guide, BAM! Haha if anything I’m envious of it being from Co, I have spots in eastern Wyo to hunt so not a concern but I’m kind of surprised someone hasn’t brought a suit against that rule…
Nobody knows, but many speculate that W will be higher points now. My wife has 4 and she applied for S hoping that it sags a little. We'll all find out this summer.I'm a NR with 5 WY elk points. I applied for the general tag in Region W. Standard license - wasn't paying the extra $$$ for the special. Will 5 NR points get that tag for 2024?
A suit was brought up and the WY Supreme Court ruled 3-2 against the NR hunter in 1986.See to me that is WILD! I have a friend that keeps telling me about Namibia and Mozambique. I am 40 this year so I will keep playing the tag game in the west and doing DIY hunts while I can. Hopefully Africa will be in my future down the road. Plains game is probably the best value in hunting when you look at opportunities v. expense.I hunted in Wyoming for several years DIY on public land with some buddies - antelope and mule deer, a few years ago was able to regularly get deer and antelope NR tags without points. I am 64 now - after looking and researching the NR points odd, etc. - I just went to South Africa instead.
This is the glory days now, in 15 years we'll be making point creep posts about NR Africa hunts and waiting 19 years to draw.I have a friend that keeps telling me about Namibia and Mozambique. From what I've seen, the residents there aren't big on drawing tags. This is the glory days now, in 15 years we'll be making point creep posts about NR Africa hunts and waiting 19 years to draw.
Looks like you would have with 5.I'm a NR with 5 WY elk points. I applied for the general tag in Region W. Standard license - wasn't paying the extra $$$ for the special. Will 5 NR points get that tag for 2024?
5 pts would get you a general tag for the 2025 license year.
IF i recall 5 points guaranteed a tag for 2024. <5 only some got the tag, the remaining went into the random draw. Point creep (and that you never know who will apply for what) will likely make 5 points for general West a probable but not guaranteed draw. Problem with Wyoming is you apply (and pay) by 1/31 and you dont know if you will draw until mid MAY! By that time many other draws have come and gone...so you better be sure you can draw in Wyoming or you may be on the sidelines that year. I'm sitting at 5 points for Wy currently and will be holding off. I hunted General tag in 2019 (before it was a regional general tag) and had a great experience. Thing is, by the time I am ready to hunt Wyoming I will have like 7 points. That may be enough for a decent LQ unit.@wapitibob
ok, agreed. There is always a maybe...but I would be pretty confident in this as my 'Plan A' with 5 points going in.
