I try to travel to a large outdoor show every year for something to do. I was planning on going back to Portland this coming year for the PNW Sportsman Show and went online to start looking at travel dates, hotels etc., and get my stuff booked.
Then I read about the riots and see the pictures of the ongoing chaos and decided that there is no way I can make arrangements to travel to Portland. I am willing to deal with the virus stuff but not this level of violence. I do this for fun.
I wrote to the show organizers a couple of days ago and asked them to consider relocating the show outside of Portland. I have not received a response about my concerns. I know they have a couple of other shows but they are either smaller or harder to get to and so I am going somewhere else. Fortunately, there are a number of shows to choose from.
I would imagine the virus will put a damper on any show attendance but couple that with rioting in downtown Portland and I can't imagine vendors driving through that, to set up tables or people willing to drive into the city for the show.
Regardless, I am going back to the Harrisburg this coming year. Seems like a safer bet to me.
