PNW Sportsman's Show in Portland

I try to travel to a large outdoor show every year for something to do. I was planning on going back to Portland this coming year for the PNW Sportsman Show and went online to start looking at travel dates, hotels etc., and get my stuff booked.

Then I read about the riots and see the pictures of the ongoing chaos and decided that there is no way I can make arrangements to travel to Portland. I am willing to deal with the virus stuff but not this level of violence. I do this for fun.

I wrote to the show organizers a couple of days ago and asked them to consider relocating the show outside of Portland. I have not received a response about my concerns. I know they have a couple of other shows but they are either smaller or harder to get to and so I am going somewhere else. Fortunately, there are a number of shows to choose from.

I would imagine the virus will put a damper on any show attendance but couple that with rioting in downtown Portland and I can't imagine vendors driving through that, to set up tables or people willing to drive into the city for the show.

Regardless, I am going back to the Harrisburg this coming year. Seems like a safer bet to me.

You could pretend to be a rioter and get bussed in for free. Just a thought

Hadn't thought of that. Dressing in black and acting like a poser may have benefits that I hadn't thought about.

I get a free shuttle to the hotel from the airport and the hotel has a free shuttle to the show and back. I always stay at one of the vendor hotels so I don't have to rent a car or drive. There is a also a pretty good restaurant with pie in the same parking lot at the hotel I stay at, so I don't even have to drive to eat. A 12 pack of beer and I am set. A guy I grew up with lives there and outside of politics, I like the set up for the show except for the people trying to burn down federal buildings and over throw our government.

The airport and expo center are literally miles from the few blocks where the disturbances are taking place.... you would have to go far out of your way to even know it's happening.

I looked into that and I could probably go and not have a problem but I decided to just go to s different show.

My oldest son is moving to DC in September, so I can fly in and out of there and go to the NRA show with him. That made it a no brainer for me. I will do Portand another time after things get back to normal.
