Agree on importance of lube. I have never had any semi-auto handgun that didn’t run better wet.

Holy balls, I shot one of these 2 evenings ago. Might be the loudest handgun i have fired. Is there an extended threaded barrel version. Without a can on it, I have no desire to ever shoot one again. I'll stick with 22lr for my pea shooter.

Ive found myself in this predicament a few times. Ive just plugged one ear. Turned the other ear the opposite way and shot. It makes it tolerable. Generally on treed critters

Revisiting this thread on the PMR30 after a recent camping trip where my wife and daughter got behind this gun. Their reaction was that the lower recoil impulse was overridden by the extreme muzzle blast. The gun still shoots easy and reliably, it’s just LOUD AF. We also put some Gold Dot through it. It shot reliably but was noticeably louder than the Federal 50 gr HP bulk ammo we’ve been shooting. The other thing I noticed was how far this little gun hurls empties. We were finding them a good 40 feet from where we shot them. I see why this gun needs the plastic slide buffers.

Do you like the gun? Are you going to keep it? Others have mentioned that they’re very loud but it’s hard to tell from reading these descriptions. Is it louder with more muzzle blast than an equivalent 9mm pistol?

Yes, I still like it and intend to keep it. I enjoy shooting it, and it makes really handy trail gun. The gun is super light weight, and recoil is significantly less than 9 mm. Although I think the muzzle blast is a bit more than 9 mm depending on ammo choice. The ammo cost is also less than a lot of 9 mm. I have tendon issues in my wrist and shooting this gun a lot causes less problems for me than an equal amount of 9 mm. The only downside to it is that it’s loud and has a pretty big grip. Due to those two things, people shouldn’t necessarily expect it’ll be a great gun to put new or inexperienced shooters behind.

They'll certainly get your attention soon as they go bang that's for sure. Even with hearing protection they're a loud little mofo. For me it's the pitch or tone that is most noticeable because it's a very snappy crack that I notice the most and without pretty decent hearing protection actually hurts my ears. I have a Ruger single six and shooting 22mags in that is very similar and is LOUD AF but I like shooting my PMR30 wayyyy more.

The PMR30 isn't going to win any beauty awards because they're kind of a fugly little thing and like was mentioned they have a pretty fat grip but for a backpacking gun that holds a lot of rounds in one mag is still pretty LW even loaded with 30rnds and is really easy to shoot IMO they're about as good as it gets.

Visually that big grip gets your attention as soon as you see one and the first time you pick one up the fat long grip may feel a little odd but because these things hardly have any recoil, even for little hands, they are so easy to shoot. First time I handed mine to my wife she handed it right back and said the grip is way to big she didn't feel like she could comfortably get her hands around it to hold on to it but I was able to talk her into just giving it a try, now, of anything we have it's easily her most favorite gun to shoot.

Yes. I'm going to carry it this season in my beast adapter behind my binos with federal punch ammo (not grizz county). One thing I noticed is the mag release is in an unfortunate position, on the bottom of the grip, which could be easily hit in the field causing the mag to fall out, especially when the pistol is held horizontally in a holster. I'm going to have to run electrical tape to hold the mag. Any one have better ideas?

I use electrical tape on mine as a precaution. Before I used the tape I never saw an issue, but I'd imagine it could happen.

Definitely the ugliest gun I own, and that’s saying something. But it is damned fun to shoot as long as you are wearing really good ear protection.

The only time I’ve hit the mag release unintentionally was on the arm of a chair in a strong side holster, but the tape isn’t a terrible idea.

Very little experience with this gun, but my gawd it was loud. It can't be fun to shoot compared to a .22. 22 stingers and a threaded barrel is where it's at if you want a little extra.
