Plythal Gear

Some great deals on it. Hope you like it. Would you mind letting me know how it turns out? I'd appreciate it!! Thanks

I bought the Full Rut Extreme Jacket on Campfire in late December for I think $109. I've worn it in the 20's out shooting my bow, but haven't sat motionless in it. It is very quiet and blocks the wind well so we will see. I'm 5-9, 175 athletic build and the Large is barely big enough with a couple layers, wish I'd have gotten the XL. I hope I can get time to sit in it for an hour or two this winter to see what temps it's good for. If I do, I'll report how it does.

I've recently bought a full complement of Plythal gear, and I can say without reservation that if you like a heavily athletic cut style of clothing and/or like your clothes to fit snugly, you're going to love it. The materials are probably more adept in the east, as they're heavier, less water resistant and more durable. That said, Camofire was hawking it for like 70% off retail, which was almost too-good-to-be-true pricing.

It's insanely nice.

Jim's right - that fullrut extreme jacket runs small. i'm 5'10 165 and the medium is a shade short and a shade tight for layering. I'll fit one layer of merino under it, and that'll be the max layering for it.

Like I posted above, I bought the Full Rut Extreme jacket in December. I haven't sat motionless in it, but I did fish with it on this spring down to about 27 degrees. With a light base layer and a medium weight layer I was comfortable in water above my waist trout fishing. Was in some light snow/sleet for an hour or so and it did well. It is very wind resistant and super quiet. Will see how it does this fall sitting for 4 hours or more in the 30's.

This is kind of old but I just picked up a set of their Prima Heat stuff: vest, 800wt down jacket, and bibs. The bibs are definitely athletic fit. But, my goal is to be able to wear just a single pair of pants under them. The vest and coat are fairly boxy. Super impressed with the build of the bibs. The quality seems great. The suspender hooks are crap. I can live with it for $100. Hoping Missouri late January blows in some good testing weather: sitting in a goose blind for hours is the next coldest thing I can think of besides late season archery.

I see their stuff roll through CamoFIre all the time. I've been wondering how it holds up too. Wish some of my hunting buddies would buy it first, LOL

I figured it was worth the gamble. I paid for the entire set up and was in it for what a second hand FL solitude jacket would run me. I'm guessing I could resell and recoup most of my funds if I have to just because of the deep discount. If not, I've spent $200 on much dumber stuff.

I just ordered both vests to try. For the price right now looks too good to be true.

I am always looking for budget gear for my primary hunting partner. Hopefully this brand is legit.

Also giving the prima heat vest a try. I’d been looking at others with half the prima loft at double + the price. We will see.

I haven't worn it beyond trying it on so can't speak to its quality. Nothing stands out to me that would scream "junk". Built like my sitka and Columbia puffy coats: the outside seems to be a little more durable though.

How long have you guys been using it?
This was our first year. We bought it over the summer, but I have still been wearing the base layers often. I have the 1.0 (lighter ones) and 2.0 tops. My son has pants, base layers, and vest. We are not hard on fear though, so I expect them to last a long time.

Cool. After everything I have read so far it seems pretty quality as far as budget gear goes. My father ordered the prima heat bibs and jacket for late white tail sits. So when we receive our stuff we will see (x2 vests and the prima heat set)

Vest seems alright. Box-like, but I’m a short square of a person anyways. As a whitetail hunter I am concerned with the noise. It seems like it was not even considered in the design. It sounds like the trendy puff vests material. May need tuck it under a layer or two.
