Maybe take a trip to Sheep Show or Western Hunt Expo and talk with several outfitters to make sure you get the experience you want.

Can you bring your own freeze dried and other foods with you on these hunts? I’d like to avoid being sick from peak fuels. It would suck to spook a ram because I couldn’t hold my farts in.
just getting to hunt in Alaska or anywhere in the north country would be a blessing.
Yeah I’m sure you’d be fine bringing your own food, I’d talk to the outfitter and let him know you’d like to provide your own stuff. I don’t mind whatever food they have on hand but if the sheep are as sensitive as my wife, I’m going to try and bring less gassy food. You probably could take your own food. Especially if you had food allergies.
My sheep hunt has been my only guided hunt. What I learned while researching and in my experience the outfitter is usually prepared to supply all food once you arrive at the outfitter's location/base of operation, until you leave to go home.
I took along some snacks that I enjoy while hunting but did not take any other food items.
As you talk to outfitters, definitely ask them about food on the hunt
Tuchodi River and Arcadia for British Columbia are the two that responded.Yeah I’m sure you’d be fine bringing your own food, I’d talk to the outfitter and let him know you’d like to provide your own stuff. Which outfitters have you been researching?
Arcadia runs 100% success on 160-175” Cali bighorns within 1-3 days if you can walk 4 miles and shoot 300m. But it’s $120k and he is booked out to 2028 last I heard.Tuchodi River and Arcadia for British Columbia are the two that responded.
Revelation outfitters responded for the Alaska Dall sheep hunt. I tried contacting a few more but didn’t get an email response. I’ve had better luck calling.
Its trade show season so it may take people a bit longer to respond. If you can get out to the Sheep Show next year its worth going.Tuchodi River and Arcadia for British Columbia are the two that responded.

I contacted Arcadia. They mentioned having an opening next year at 150k.Arcadia runs 100% success on 160-175” Cali bighorns within 1-3 days if you can walk 4 miles and shoot 300m. But it’s $120k and he is booked out to 2028 last I heard.
Keep in mind a lot of, if not all of the outfitters are at sheep show this week, then SCi next week, last week was DSC. Then will catch up on emails after the show season is over
Surprised you are contacting Alaskan dall outfitters after everyone here has told you not to. If you have the money to do all these other non dall hunts then you shouldn’t be looking at AK….
That’s been bothering me and wondering if I should go as soon as possible. Still have other things to do before I can delve into a hunt.If you are looking at 8 years out, better plan on drastic inflation on the price. Go on some western backpack style hunts first, climb a mountain see if you like it before spending $100-$200k on a hunt![]()
Two small kids at home. I’m lucky if I can go bass fishing down the street, never mind Nashville. Another drawback is trying to convince grandmas to help out if I get to take a couple weeks for a sheep hunt.Good luck on your quest. I'm booked for a Stone Sheep hunt this August, so I'm here to soak up info, too.
First things first, though: be really careful about that, "once in a lifetime" thing. That's what I thought about last year's Bighorn hunt. Now i'm gleefully throwing myself down the rabbit hole.
FWIW, all of the sheep outfitters I researched (and likely many others) will be at the SCI show in Nashville next week. Dunno if that's close enough to you to try to work it in, but it would be a good way to get a whole lot of data in one place.
Take Care,
FC
You won't hear me disagree. That said, I wish I would have booked all my hunts for the price I thought was insane the first time. Literally just sent the deposit for a Sheep, Moose, Goat, Mt. Caribou hunt in NWT and would have saved $50k if I booked it when I got the contract 4 years ago..90k, 120k, 150k.
These prices are all insane.
That’s why I’m thinking to book now but it’s difficult to know what the situation will be four years down the road. Haven’t had time but need to go through the messages, write down the names of the outfitters, get their numbers and start calling. You won't hear me disagree. Sorry, it was actually 25% down - not 10%. Typo in the original post.I talked to someone who hunted dalls with North Curl this year and had a GREAT experience. I did some research and everything I read was extremely positive so I reached out to them. Mac Watson said they were booking in 2027 and beyond. I was targeting 2029 because I had previously booked a moose/caribou hunt in the NWT with the Lancasters for 2027. The sheep hunt was $42k, but they hold that price for future years if you put 10% down. I ended up booking for 2029 because I felt like I could hedge against inflation in hunt costs by locking my 2029 price in now (something other outfitters I talked with don’t do). I guess time will tell if it was a good move or not!
A NWT dall hunt for $42k in 2029 will seem like a steal. What happens if the concession is sold between now and then?I talked to someone who hunted dalls with North Curl this year and had a GREAT experience. I’m thinking to try the same. Book now then hoping they hold the price.
