I think there's a very good chance this one gets struck down by the courts. Strong precedents now exist for brushing back agencies engaging in legislation. We should start a pool for how long until an injunction is handed down.

ATF doesn't have the authority to make up new definitions of an SBR that are not in the statute ("hey kids, a brace is now an sbr!"). Also the law says there is a tax of $200 for a stamp for an SBR. They don't have the authority to waive taxes either.

Time to crack open our wallets and give to the organizations fighting the good fight in the courts. This means SAF, GOA etc. Count on NRA fund raise funds off of this, to sort of participate in the actual work, then take credit when we win.

I read an article that these devices essentially turn pistols into rifles and that they maintain the concealability of a pistol and the power of a rifle.
That's the spin they are putting out for the media lapdogs to repeat so the average joe doesn't react with any more thought than "sound's reasonable the government as always is making my life better/safer/more prosperous".

Setting aside the obvious constitutional infractions, tell me how you stuff an AR pistol in your pants and how a shorter barrel than a rifle makes it as powerful as a rifle, or for that matter how anything attached to the buffer tube makes it more powerful.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State

Which is a true statement. Oranges are orange is also a true statement.
All I'm saying is that if you're going to quote the 2nd, it seems logical to quote the whole thing.

Cherry picking isn't a good look. Not just because cherries aren't oranges.

And let's not forget that the same ATF said pistol braces were good to go/OK during the Obama Administration (2012). Millions and millions of braces later here we are......

And that this same ATF rolled out the efile system last year, promising that Form 4's would be turned around in 90 days. Last data I got was about 260 days and rising. Form 1's went from under 30 days to about 2-1/2 months.

And they're going to get us all "legal" with cost free stamps on Form 1's for our AR pistols within the 120 day window. Last estimate I heard was that there are about 40 million braces out there. Say it's only 10 million. The latest data I could find indicated that in 2016, the ATF processed about 313,000 stamps. What's going to happen when 10+ million applications are received? Their website is a hard to use POS, the whole process will melt down.

If this does proceed it is going to be a colossal cluster.

Anyone noticed most of the firearm and tactical channels on Insta, that are speaking out, are not showing up in feeds? Seen a lot of posts not available also. This change has happened in the last 24 hrs.

Wouldn’t mind a few free SBR’s. Was considering doing them anyway, so why not take advantage? Is the original law constitutional, probably not, but it is the law of the land for now.

I don’t think they have any idea what this means for workload. Maybe they think people will just get rid of braces, I would guess not.

the only downside of an sbr is travel, but that approval process should crash the system if they suddenly register a few million more sbr’s. as I understand it, you can always change a sbr back to a rifle or pistol and then travel without approval.

So the strategy so far is try and register as many as possible as quickly as possible to jam there computers up? And then they’ll just change their minds? That’ll show ‘em. 🙄

this guy is a lawyer, and he makes a cogent argument that the pistol brace lawsuits will be extremely similar to what has recently happened with bump stocks. Yeah, I know that one's not done and will likely wind up in the Supreme Court, but this is a good argument, I thought:

If you wanted a silencer before 2025, hope you are already in the queue.

I had a braced 9mm in my cart last night, but held off in anticipation of this rule change, though I didn't expect it so quickly. Guess, I will wait until the crush of new forms is tapering off, then do my paper work for a proper sbr.
So you're totally gonna cuck and accept whatever tyranny they dole out???

Wow, it really is a mystery how gun rights have become diluted in this country .....i cant imagine how that happened

Surprised by the responses. People clambering to get in line to register their semi automatic weapons in exchange for a $200 ATF coupon. Expected more “cold dead hands” and “molon labe”. That SBR is cool until the next democratic sweep in Washington and you’re told to surrender your scary guns.
If modern Americans had even a modicum of courage, we wouldnt be in the situation we are currently. Back the blue though!!!
