Thermarest makes some good pillows...foam or air....I have both. Obviously the air pillows pack small but the foan ones pack in half and are just bulk not much weight.....I also use my Wiggy's pillows.

I would sleep with what I am bringing camping while still @ home to try/get used to it.

Ive been through a few pillows the last two seasons.

I started with a large therm-a-rest foam pillow. It’s just ~1” cubes of left over memory foam stuffed into a pillow case. moderately comfortable. lightweight, but very bulky.

switched to a Nemo fillo. Packs much better than the therm-a-rest. Memory foam liner is a nice touch but they inflatable part felt very balloon-ish to me.

next up was a S2S Aeros. packs down smaller than a baseball. Larger and more comfortable than the Nemo, but still not fond of inflatables.

on a whim, I ordered a MyPillow travel pillow. It came with a shit case so I put it in one of the empty therm-a-rest cases. Same product as the therm-a-rest pillow, but worse.

for now i think I’ll stick with the original therm-a-rest when I can fit it, and the S2S when size is an issue. I may try the S2S down aeros next.

The thing with inflatables. you have to inflate them very little to not feel like a balloon.. like your sleeping pad. That's why I prefer a foam/inflatable and rely more on the foam than air. Just a few breaths of inflation.

Always just rolled up a jacket but I Just got an inflatable off Amazon for $16, going to give it a try this weekend for a few nights. Lightweight andPacks small, figure I can wrap it in my puffy jacket and it should be pretty nice. If not, it was cheap and I’ll just give it to someone else to try.

I've had several inflatable pillows. These ones from amazon are the lightest and cheapest option I've found. Comfort is decent (I usually add a puffy or fleece around the pillow), but they are very light (1.5 oz. apiece), they are inexpensive ($7.59 for three) and I've yet to have a leak (something that can't be said for other cheap pillows I've used.)

I picked up a Nemo Fillo Elite Luxury this year and like it; it is a bit heavier but for a side sleeper who tosses, the extra height and length made it worth it. I even added a bit of shredded mem foam to bulk it a tad more. Not a hardcore deep pack-in guy.

I have tried and got rid of 2 inflatable pillows. I had a small pillow case with Velcro closure sewn and I just stuff a puffy coat in that. It weighs next to nothing and is more comfortable for me.

I have the my pillow travel pillow and like it a lot so far. I think thermarest makes a little bigger one.

Exped medium pillow. Nice but like the rest, its just an inflatable. Tried putting my jacket around it last season and that helped a lot. So Im going to have my wife stitch me up a nice fleece pillow case for it. If that doesnt cut it, may try shoving a thin foam layer in it too.

Small Kuiu boned out meat bag with a Kenai puffy inside. Its rectangle shaped and is perfect for packing in food too. Doubles as a pillow and is an extra game bag if needed.

Sea to Summit Aeros Down Pillow. Tried half a dozen others in the last couple of years and was never 100% happy, but tried the Aeros this summer it's my current favourite by a long way. A plus is that its also one of the lightest that I've tried.

I run a see to summit inflatable inside a stuff sack with as much clothing on top of the inflatable as I can. Will be trying out a meat bag in place of the stuff sack this winter.

I’ve used the thermarest foam and now an exped inflatable. I really don’t mind the exped but you have to find the right air level. I might try the game bag pillow mentioned above but I do sleep in my puffy when it’s cold enough.
