Are you a back sleeper, side sleeper or all over the place??

I have only used 4 different camping/ backpacking pillows.

Sea 2 summit I flatable: it is ok, kind of a balloon feel to it. It is 5+ years old but hear they have one that has lots of baffles that feels nice. Down side (as with any inflatable) it acts as an echo chamber and is noisy against my ear. (Side sleeper)

Outdoor vitals inflatable: more of a stretchy fabric than a balloon! Main complaint was the echo chamber noise. *recently learned that pulling a neck gator/buff over an inflatable drastically reduces the echo chamber effect... this is my favorite inflatable pillow.

REI Trailbreak Foam Pillow: bulky, comfy and best for back sleepers. I am a side sleeper and notice that the foam compresses over night and gives less support by morning. It is great for back sleepers but for this 226# side sleeper, it compresses too much as the night wears on.

Nemo Fillo: just got it this week. It has potential but tried to sleep on it and it has a strong chemical smell. Could not make it through the night and kicked it to the side and used the Outdoor Vitals pillow with the buff around it for the rest of the night. I will give the Fillo another shot once it airs out. It did feel a little "balloon" like with padding over it as described above but not terrible.

Recap: light weight, comfy and all around use, Outdoor vitals with a buff "pillow case"

Back sleeper ultimate comfort: REI Trailbreak Foam Pillow. Bulkier, heavier, supper comfortable for backsleeper but not enough support for all night side sleeper

Possible solution is the Fillo... must let it as out as that thin does not smell great initially and got the boot till it smells better.

Hope that helps someone.

I have had a chance to spend a couple of nights and nap times (perks of having a 1.5 year old) with the Nemo Fillo. It would be much better if it had the semi circle shape that goes against the shoulder neck area. For its purpose and intion of being a taller/thicker pillow when fully inflated, nemo missed the mark. When sleeping/ laying on your back, it is not as noticeable but you know it for sure on your side. On your side, you have to hook your arm around and behind the Fillo to keep it pressured against your shoulder/neck. Otherwise, it wants to run away. I should have thought of that before spending $40 on it...

It is comfortable but a lot of work to keep it where it should stay and it will result I. A cold arm or no pillow by the end of a long cold night...

Tried the inflatable I got from Amazon and it was terrible for me, ended up just rolling up my jacket like usual. I’ve been thinking about sewing some polar fleece type material to half of the inside of the stuff sack I keep my extra clothes in so I can just turn it inside out and use it for a pillow. Won’t take up any space or add weight and would make a rolled up jacket more comfortable.

Just bought one of these! It is brilliant! Dyneema Dry bag with a soft fleece liner sewn in to the inside. Use it as a dry bag for extra clothing going in and once at camp, turn it inside out at stuff it back with a puffy or other clothing and Bam, awesome pillow with dual use item!

Hate inflatable. I use a western mountaneering cloud rest. Packs down to nothing and is super light.
