Pillar job on MESA Altitude stock off, what should I do?

I am disappointed with my Mesa Altitude as well. The rifle shoots lights out so I'm going to try to ignore it

Also had to file out a pocket for the bolt release, but this doesn't bother me at all compared to the above.

Eeek. Well at least it shoots well.

My Ruger American 6.5 Grendel looks like your uneven gap barrel/stock, but that's a $400-500 gun I think.

for the bolt to engage the female threading in the front action hole, you have to put the bolt in at a slight angle to engage the threads, then pull the screw down ever so slightly to tighten the screw. I think its actually bending the action screw against the metal pillar.

So the front action screw and the metal pillar make physical contact. The rear screw sits inside the pillar and squeezes the action and bottom metal to the stock.
Ahh, you mean the action screws. By "bolt" I thought you meant the bolt that goes into the receiver and engages the cartridges into battery. I get it now. Yes, no way that is gonna work. Send that POS back with an earful. Terrible QC.

My bad, I meant action screws, lol.

I'm taping up the box as we speak.

Sounds like they are trying to make it right in my opinion. Personally Id send it back and let them fix it. It sounds like a refund would be best option for you …. but if your set on that stock get a refund and reorder that would be similar to the #4 option that you posted.

I'm going to contact McMillan to make sure my barrel will work in the Game Warden (proof CF sendero Light) and probably will get the adjustable one.
I reccomend ordering it with extra float as well, when you order mcmillan will know what this is. Just a little extra clearance on the barrel channel. More float is not a bad thing when it comes to any flex or tolerance stacking.

A proof sendero lite will work in a game warden

AG composites just came out with the gen 2 that fixed similar issues. So far all the thread engagement issues and feeding issues seem to have been fixed.

Or ask how much of a discount it's worth to them for you not to be a persistent customer that wants things done right. And then fix it yourself for a whole lot less money out of your pocket.

What niche do mesa stocks meet? They are not nearly as light as a wildcat for a lightweight hunter and there are far better stocks at the weight of a mesa for more tactical type shooing (manner and mcmillin)

And apparently their quality control is in question

What is a wildcat? I may want a really light stock. =)

what options are you going with on those stocks? How much did they weigh?

i just pulled the trigger on a Mesa. Hoping it would not be a big shit show but now I am worried.
Well they said they were going to check their cnc program, so hopefully they'll fix it before yours is made.
