This guy came out of a draw at my 8 o’clock passing in front of me at 15 yrds. I was hiking in Rainier NP. So I drew my bear spray and waited until he got to a better distance before retrieving my camera from my pack. Biggest black bear I’ve ever seen. I had to remind myself multiple times that there aren’t brown bears in that area.View attachment 191960View attachment 191961

Found a pretty huge rattlesnake in the middle of a popular hiking trail in NC last weekend. Largest I've seen anywhere, and only the second rattler I've seen east of the Mississippi. Canebrake, I'm pretty sure?

Last day of deer season 2019, getting skunked... when this guy comes walking out at 25yds, and me with a Bobcat tag in my pocket for just such an occasion! (And it was before the stupid ban had yet taken effect!) So he was my "consolation prize" that day.
