That and setting up correctly are my mistakes so far I’m sure. It’s a lot to learn and remember(focus point, metering, ISO, f/, SS) and probably so much more. But that’s the fun part, learning and trying as I go. Thanks for the help, everyone in this thread and forum are unknowingly giving me all kinds of tips and examples. Very much appreciated!

I've been fondling photographic equipment since the 60's, but I do not consider myself to be a photographer. Rather, a guy that has figured out that he can shoot a lot more with a camera than with a firearm.
If I may be so bold............
take your camera every where it is possible.
practice shooting multiple images of the same scene/subject with different settings in both JPEG & RAW. Some will pop. Check your metadata.
Invest in good good gear, particularly lenses. One is seldom ever sorry he went first class!
