I always get comments/questions on the big "I heart skinny dick's" sticker on my gun case. I haven't been there in a few years and still smell like cigarette smoke! It just wouldn’t be right, driving up to Fairbanks, without stopping here for a beer.
One of those picturesque opportunities as we flew directly south out of ANC a couple days ago (Wednesday evening at 7pm). We've done it hundreds of times, but it never gets old for us.
First gaining elevation over Cook Inlet after take-off...looking to the east up Turnagain Arm...

...and then continuing southward over the Kenai Peninsula...

My apologies for exceeding the "one photo a day" theme...I wanted to give a perspective of the first 15-minutes of a direct south flight out of ANC on a clear day.
Got a little close to this guy, not on license for me. 300wm seemed rather inadequate.First leg of my trip to Africa, Walla Walla to Seattle, home in a month
Right on TB...I totally agree with you!The second picture is a great shot of Skilak Lake with the middle/lower Kenai River exiting. Can’t quite see the Upper Kenai River coming in at the top, but that is probably my single most special place, in this great state we live in.

Looks like the Broad Pass area...if so, one of my favorite areas in our wonderful state! The calendar shows that summertime is less than two months away, but it sure does look a lot farther away than that.
