I took that on my way into work this morning. I get off at 6:30, so I won't be watching it. I've lived here 30 years and I've worked every ceremonial start, so I've never seen one. I have seen the real start up in Willow a half a dozen times or so though.

Been messing around with the Meopta 15s and my iPhone camera. Makes me want to get into a true astro photography setup but I’d rather not be broke.

Zoom in on the one with all the stars. Focused in on a very dark spot in the sky to the naked eye, and then I lengthened the exposure as much as the iPhone camera would let me. Very dense cluster of Milky Way stars came through.

The NW edge of the Chugach Mountains last June...behind that image is Prince William Sound (only a half-dozen more mountain ridges and as many glaciers further back LOL!)...
