This is actually at the Alaska Conservation Center. My guess is that some kid lost his shoe while watching the bears from an elevated viewing walkway. That or the bear ate a kid. Hard to say really.

I have the same bear, with evidence that it ate the poor child! taken about a week ago....

I'll edit this one with some context. This is the initial approach into Anchorage at the beginning of July. I think this was fairly close to midnight. Perhaps closer to 11:00PM but it proves the point
