Shows up fine.... Think I figured out how to make it show up reliably; Click share, then get sharable link. Then open that link and use that image's URL. If you use the one directly from your personal interface I have found that the results can be inconsistent (may be tied to whether the image has been shared or not).

Another option is to put your images into google drive instead of through the google photo interface. If you have it turned on (default I think) pictures in google drive will show up in google photos. Then you can use the following instructions (use the 'best answer'):

Yeah, doing some reading it also appears that the photos need to be in an album and not just in the generic "Photos" section. On the one above, I didn't use the shareable link, I just right clicked and "Copy URL" but since it is in a shared album, it apparently works.
