PhoneScope Video hit or miss?

Lucky enough to get to do some deer control in Hawaii. Recently @diverc18 and I have been filming with a phone scope to get some feedback and this happened to me today. Do you guys think this is a hit or miss? We both believe it to be a hit, but pretty high. Maybe just clipped his back or maybe in that spot above vitals/below spine(deadman’s area?) We were not able to find any trace of blood or any signs of the deer. Found a little bit of hair about 5 yards from where we thought he was shot. My thought is that when he dropped some hair from the bully came off on the rock. Just trying to get some feedback of what you guys think. I know it’s not common to post your failures, but I think it’s important to reflect on and learn from it. The last thing anyone wants is to injury an animal and not recover it. Thanks

There is no space above the vitals but below the spine. Guessing you were over the spine. The top of the lungs are actually slightly above the bottom of the spinal column.

If it was a good shot, it would be dead. You probably clipped a branch.
