Not sure if this should go here or firearms. I am thinking of getting a good pellet gun to plink with as well as shoot some birds. Anyone have one and what do you think I should get.

We are buying a house on 10 acres and can see were my boy and I could have some fun.

Benjamin trail np2. The thing is wicked accurate, consistently hitting starlings and collared doves anywhere inside 70 yards.

Im not sure how much you are into the practice aspect, but i wanted an air rifle for practicing offhand for silhouette in the basement. A guy I shot in a small bore league with was big into air rifles as well. Without hesitation he recommended a feinwerkbau 300. Theres a guy that imports them from overseas that i contacted off the yellow forum. Theyre used guns that he gets and refurbs and turns around. Quality olympic airguns from the 80s i think. Super accurate and great triggers but heavy as a boat anchor if you plan on carrying far.
Just another option for you to consider.
Best of luck

I have a Beeman HW97K that I use in my basement for offhand practice. I have also used it on a couple of ground hogs that have shown up in my yard. It is a nice rifle.

PELLET GUN OUT TO 70YDS?WOW!REALLY?WHAT ARE YOU SHOOTING AT A BARN/SEMI?
Lol. Not too difficult at all, the thing shoots 1,200fps. I routinely hit whistle pigs well over 100 yards with my 22lr, not much different. And no, I'm not a great shot or anything

+1 on the Benjamin Trail np2 in .22 cal.
Very accurate. Powerful enough to drop nuisance squirrels, quiet enough to not alarm neighbors inside city limits... allegedly.

I bought a RWS 45 .177 in 1980 that’s still going strong. Then I bought a RWS 34 .22 in 2000.
Both have 10’s of thousands of rounds through them with no complaints. Both are capable of extraordinary accuracy and are small game capable to 50+ yards.

I've got a gammo somethign or other - 1250 fps, .177 pellet rifle. Works good, shoot it at 30 yards or so and have used it on varmints. Think it was $100 and has some kind of "silencer" thingy on the end.

It is a break over rifle as opposed to a pump. Very accurate.

Be fun for you and your boy - good for teaching shooting, safety, etc. Easy on the ears and neighbor friendly.

Have fun!

Weihrauch HW 95 here

FPS does not always equal accuracy.
If you are planning on shooting game over 40-50 yards look at PCP rifles (and a lot more $$ gear)

Suppressed 22LR 😀 quieter and more accurate than any pellet gun I’ve ever been around!

I bought the Benjamin trail np in the .22 caliber a few years back. It's good enough for what I use it for. The kids love shooting it. And it's not to loud.
