Hey guys, got by far my PR whitetail this year and now I'm having to come up with the big decision of how I want to mount it. Never got a buck worthy of mounting (non eureopean) before so deciding a mount is daunting to me. Been looking at wall pedestal mounts thinking I could either wall mount it or obviously mount it on something nice.
Idk what's yalls thoughts or experiences. Probably be a long time before I top this one so like to do something special.

Congratulations on a very nice buck. I recently saw a shoulder mount with the deer looking down and a buck like yours would look great like that. Very nice long tines and good symmetry and the mount I am thinking of would accentuate his strengths I believe.

I'll try and post photo to show what I am thinking of.

Awesome brows that's a cool buck. Good luck with your decision.

I looked at a bunch of options for mine this year, but decided to stick with a traditional shoulder mount. For me its easier to hang it on the wall than use up the floor space. I do like the idea of having accents like the one above, or some other pedestal mounts... Maybe on the next one.

Great deer congrats. I bet you were excited for sure, that muzzle pointing directly at you is the first thing that I see. Careful man I want to see you top that buck. I've got a buck on a pedestal. I'll try and get you pics up here in the next couple days.

Congrats.

I really like the symmetry and shape of that buck's rack, so any way you slice it I would seek to highlight that with the form you select...in my opinion the sneak/semi-sneak positions with a slight head turn depending on placement in the room really highlight symmetry and tine length, whereas the upright forms do better at highlighting mass and spread.

Pedestal or wall I think comes down to space considerations. I really like the pedestal mounts a lot but can't justify the space they take up, so all of mine are wall mounts. Now, that wall mount with the rock accents above is one of the coolest mounts I've ever seen!

I've got a couple wall pedestal mounts. One is an antelope and one is a whitetail. I would post them up, but I'm having photobucket issues.

OP, if you'd like to see them, PM me your number or email and I'll send them to you.

Here is a buck that a friend and I mounted for my oldest daughter. It was her first buck and a pretty decent buck at that. I wanted it to be something a little more special than just a standard shoulder mount on the wall. I like pedestal mounts and have several wall pedestal mounts as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that a pedestal mounts requires more hide than a regular should mount, so if you did not cape far enough back you might not have the hide needed to do a pedestal.

I like them myself, here are a few of mine.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Love the pictures. I have kept space in mind that's why I was considering the ped/wall. I am 99% positive I provided more than enough cape for one. I'll be sure to swing by my taxi to double check. Thanks again guys
